Designed for people whose car stereos haven't yet entered the 21st century, this GPX car kit--which comes with a personal CD player, a cassette adapter, and a cigarette lighter plug--lets folks enjoy their favorite CDs while on the road without installing an expensive in-dash CD system. The car kit is a breeze to set up: simply insert the cassette adapter into the car's cassette deck and connect the cigarette lighter plug. The plug powers the CD player while the cassette adapter directs the music through the car's dual stereo speakers. Listeners won't have to worry about CD skips and other interruptions thanks to the CD player's anti-skip protection (ASP), which stores the music data for 60 seconds to safeguard against speed bumps and other road disruptions. The ASP also protects the CD player when it's out of the car, such as while jogging or working out at the gym.

The CD player is equipped with several requisite functions, such as 20-track programming, CD-R and CD-RW compatibility, repeat and random play, CD intro, song skip/search, and a hold function that disables the controls when not in use. The latter feature keeps the unit from accidentally turning on in your backpack or gym bag, thus preserving the battery life. The device's audio performance stems from its bass boost system, which ensures a deep, rich overall sound that belies the CD player's compact size. Additional features include a six-digit LCD display, a low battery indicator, and a stereo line-out jack. The device runs on two AA batteries (not included) and carries a 90-day warranty on parts and labor.

Bought this for our non-CD-equipped car. The system works great with perfectly adequate sound quality (I am not a super-mega-audiophile.). No noticeable skipping or sound artifacts. Easy to use and does the job!

The adapter, which allows you to connect your CD player to your car's stereo system, worked fine and I am completely satisfied with it. The CD player is a different story. It repeatedly would not recognize disks (that worked fine on a different player), or would read a disk for a while but then stop, just generally very poor reliability. I didn't return it, as the adapter was what I needed the most and I had another CD player that worked fine. My advice is to buy the adapter by itself and then get a different CD player.

It works very well. It's nice to be able to listen to CD's in my car without getting a whole new stereo system installed. My only problem is that the CD player will turn off every once in a while when the power cord is bent. This happens rarely, but it's enough to be a little annoying. Other than that, it's a very nice product. No skipping, easy to use and a fair price.
