The gaskets also keep the buttons from gumming up after a visit to the coast. Of course, the durable design wouldn't mean much if the cassette player didn't also meet audio expectations. Fortunately, tapes sound just-out-of-the-box good thanks to the bass boost system, which enriches the overall sound by enhancing the lowest frequencies. And should you tire of listening to prerecorded cassettes, simply switch to the digital AM/FM radio, which comes with 10 station presets for quick channel scanning.
On those rare occasions when music won't get the job done--such as when the sun starts setting on a forest hike--users can turn to the flashlight and compass to find their way back to the campsite.
