GRAMERCY Indoor/Outdoor Floor Standing Ethanol Fireplace

We love this portable fireplace. We have had it about a week now, and used it 3 times inside our home. We look forward to using it on the patio this spring also. We use OZOFire(tm) biofuel in it, and the flame is very pleasing to view. The biofuel is a bit of an expense, so factor that into consideration.

I got the fireplace in early Feb. I had been looking at similar products (free standing, alcohol burning fire-things) for a few months. I live in Europe and the things available here (Made by Blomus and other companies) are extremely nice, well built and cost A LOT. (the Blomus model, most similar in appearance to this Gramercy cost over 1,000 Euro (about $1,500). That said...the Blomus was all heavy gauge stainless steel and looked like it would last forever.

The Gramercy looks good. It's just kind of "flimsy". The sheet metal that the Gramercy is made from just isn't real heavy. Is that a problem? It means your kids can't jump on it and you'd better never drop it. But for what it is meant to do...it looks like it will do it well.

..And it has. I've put about 10 quarts of Fuel through my Gramercy and it's doing pretty good. One thing you need to know is that these things eat fuel like a 67 Charger with a hemi engine. In order for you to get a nice little fire going, you need to leave the sliding door that controls the air flow all the way open. This gives you maximum flame. Not a huge flame, but nice. With the fireplace in this configuration, you'll run through a quart of fuel in about 2 hours.

The Good: Fireplace looks good...works fine and costs A LOT less than similar products. Most importantly - Peter, who appears to run things at Anywhere Fireplaces, worked VERY hard to ensure I was a satisfied customer. Kudos to this company's customer service!

The Bad: Eats fuel, but they ALL will. Also, flimsy construction.

We received the anywhere fireplace last week and for the price we are pleased with it's look & performance. It throws off a nice amount of heat, especially when I have the ceiling fan above it going in a clockwise position on low to bring the warmth back down. It does use alot of ethanol fuel, 1 qt. only lasts 2 - 2.5 hours with a fully open setting.

FUEL!

I just purchased my Anywhere Fireplace for my 1 bedroom apt and it fits perfectly on my living room coffee table. The fireplace is very large, I would say 2.5-3 feet long so make sure you have somewhere to put it on. I don't think it is tall enough to sit on the floor - someone might burn themselves by accidentally stepping over it.

I got it for my apartment to give it a chic, modern look. I am 25 and from New York City. I have always lived in an apartment and never a house so being able to have a fireplace at my digs is really rad. It is a great conversation piece and my friends are really impressed. They now think I'm rich or something, lol.

The only qualm I have with this purchase - and the reason I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 - is that it does not come with fuel or mention what type of fuel you will need in the listing. This is no fault of Amazon, I should have done more research by visiting the manufacturers website. Of course wood doesn't come with a wood burning fireplace so I wasn't surprised. However I was surprised to find out that you can only purchase the type of fuel it needs online.

It takes Bio-ethanol fuel. This type of fuel is eco-friendly, smoke and odorless. Expect to pay $75 bucks a pop for these babies. When you get the instructions with the fireplace it refers you to Anywhere Fireplace's website to purchase their fuel for this unit however I found a less expensive brand on Amazon.

So all in all beautiful piece to add to your furnishings but it does not come with fuel, fuel is very expensive and not unless you buy the fuel with your fireplace expect to wait another week to use it as the fuel can only be ordered online and takes another week to arrive. No expedited shipping on the fuel available.
