4.0 out of 5 stars Good vocab prep
I found the High frequency words pretty useful, and I think these words only matter anyway. Only I find carrying the flash cards and flashing them around a pain, and they write GEEK all over me. I actually found this cool application that works on the cell phone and has tough GRE words. Google with "GRE tough words" to find it. Best part I liked about it was that the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Functional, not very well made
These cards do as they're advertised, but the quality isn't that exceptional.

The printing is crude/obviously word-processed, and they're printed on cheap and relatively fragile paper stock.

4.0 out of 5 stars These words ARE on the GRE, but not sufficient, March 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: GRE Vocabulary Set 1: High-Frequency GRE Words (Paperback)
I used all 4 sets of this flash card sets, Kaplan's, and other supplementary flash cards. I was aiming for more than 600 on verbal section, and I did get 600 after all. Considering that I am an international student, I have to say that this worked pretty well.

I highly recommend that you purchase all 4 sets. First set isn't much of a practice - you know pretty much all the words.

After finishing all the 4 sets, you can be pretty confident that you are prepared for taking the GRE.
As it is advertised, these are high-frequency GRE words. What you memorize do come up in the test.

However, to be more prepared, it is safe to you use additional materials as well. I bought Kaplan's vocabulary in a box. Some words are identical, but had extra definitions, which helped me relate those words more.

Great starting point, but I suggest that you use this with other materials so you are more prepared.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners, but not for fine-tuning, April 6, 2008
This review is from: GRE Vocabulary Set 1: High-Frequency GRE Words (Paperback)
These flash cards are useful if you're really haven't been exposed to the words, but they're not good for fine-tuning your understanding. They'd be good for a non-native speaker or a beginner-- they might take you from a 400 to a 600 score, but not a 600 to 800. The problem is that the definitions are oversimplified: for example, compare their definition of "acumen" as "insightfulness" or "diffident" as "lacking self-confidence" to the definition in a good dictionary, and you'll see how much nuance is being lost, nuance that is essential when choosing which of several words is most appropriate. So, overall: quality good, format useful, but really just a starting place.

4.0 out of 5 stars helpful, but terrible timing!, July 9, 2008
This review is from: GRE Vocabulary Set 1: High-Frequency GRE Words (Paperback)
I searched and searched for flashcards to boost my GRE verbal score and Easy Prep is what I found. I decided to order all 4 sets and I paid priority shipping because I was heading out of town for a few weeks. I ordered 2 weeks before my scheduled vacation. I called after one week because I hadn't received an email confirmation and they didn't answer. I called the next week and the gentleman informed me that he'd sent them out, but that the company was having some financial difficulties and were getting back on their feet. Needless to say, the package didn't arrive before or even during my vacation. I called again when I returned and he ensured me he would send them. Two phone calls later, he actually did send them, but by then it had been a month and a half. He did refund my shipping, but I missed out on a lot of valuable study time. Besides the shipping, the cards are decent. They are business card sized and easy to carry around. There is also a study timeline included so you have an idea of how many cards/day you must learn by your test date.

5.0 out of 5 stars effective way of studying GRE, August 8, 2006
This review is from: GRE Vocabulary Set 1: High-Frequency GRE Words (Paperback)
In my opinon, these flash cards are pretty effective. If you are trying to memorize words from a list you usually remember the positions of the word on the paper. However using these flash cards, you can shuffle to solve this problem. Moreover, I needed to contact to customer service once, they really helped me in a professinoal manner. I have ordered three sets, and when I have received them, I was a little upset because of the handy carry bags. They were using these bags everywhere as an advertisement, but they were nothing but a small ziploc. In addition, instead of three there were two handy carry bags. Then, I e-mailed them to ask for my third handy carry bag, but I was just trying to annoy them. I even didn't think that they would reply the e-mail. However, they didn't only replied, but also sent my last handy carry bag in two days.
