5.0 out of 5 stars Unusual approaches to life and death
I found this book really interesting. Very unusual subjects are covered and each chapter is actually an edited and very lively discussion between E.J. Gold and students and other interested folks. Lots of humor too, one of my favorite things!

We should all have so much looking at the big picture, what matters and how -

2.0 out of 5 stars interesting, but difficult to read
I am familiar with literature on death and dying, have read Kuebler Ross, Moody and similar ones, but this was my fisrt book from EJ Gold. Some talks like "The Deathbed Perspective" and "The Winnipeg Nine" make it already worthwile to buy the book. However, for the uninitiated the context is not always easy to grasp. This review is from: THE GREAT ADVENTURE: Talks on Living, Dying, and the Bardos (Consciousness Classics) (Paperback)
The talks refer to exercises and experiences, which mean nothing or very little if one is not familiar with "The school" which is at times referred to. I am quite sure that with a better introduction and background of Gold's teachings, the book would be more valuable. I didn't have this key to unlock the essence of some of the talks. My next purchase will be the American Book of the Dead to look for these clues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tips for the trip, January 6, 2006

This review is from: THE GREAT ADVENTURE: Talks on Living, Dying, and the Bardos (Consciousness Classics) (Paperback)
Over the last 30 plus years I have occasionally looked for tips or useful information I might need for my departure from this world. What an appropriate title too. I found the book not as difficult as another reviewer since I have previously read Kubler-Ross, Moody, and others including Mr. Gold.

Kubler-Ross and Gold are straight shooters, pull no punches and tell you like it is, which is exactly what you need. This is not a sugar coated fairy/angel book like so many others but an accurate and useful guide book (also the American Book of the Dead).

I figure for The Great Adventure you cannot be too prepared...
