-The light that shone has a religious flavour
-Till midnight sounds like something off breads' first album (Bread)
I recommend this album to a bread or hollies fan or just someone who likes soft rock

Anyone who likes the popular works will of Bread or the Hollies will not be disappointed with this album. The styles of these two writers/performers are showcased. Griffin's songs are simply his best ever. I don't know enough about Sylvester's repertoire to make a similar judgement but I enjoyed the songs he sung, too. And on a few songs the harmonizing of the two was simply unbeatable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jimmy Griffin, You are really missed, March 15, 2006
This review is from: GRIFFIN & SYLVESTER (Audio CD)
I recently purchased several items that had the wonderful music of James Griffin. He had a God-given talent. He had a beautiful voice and great songwriting style. The CDS he recorded with the Remmingtons were just fantastic. This particular CD he did with Terry Sylvester is just remarkable. I heard The Hollies influence very clearly and I must say, this compillation left me breathless. Of all the members of Bread, Jimmy was my favorite. I am very proud that I own this CD and wish there were more by these two artists because together they made a wonderful team.

5.0 out of 5 stars Griffin and then some, March 17, 2006
This review is from: GRIFFIN & SYLVESTER (Audio CD)
I was so impressed with this cd. I have always felt Griffin should have gotten more credit than he did with Bread. The production is what "Breaking Up is Easy" could've been.
'Shine' and 'Until Midnight' are absolutely beautiful.
His voice is so powerful throughout. It truly makes you wish
there was more. My 10 year old son said to ditto this.

If you are a fan of the group Bread, and it's other "star," James
Griffin, you MUST get this rare, unappreciated gem! Released in
1982 (apparently only in the UK)this album is FANTASTIC. Terry
Sylvester (of The Hollies) sort of becomes the "new" David Gates
as his voice is higher and sweeter than Griffin's, but oh the sweet harmonies! It truly does sound like a "lost, 80's Bread lp." This proves that what made Bread so special was NOT just Mr.
Gates, but the blending of talents with the EQUALLY AMAZING,
and charismatic Jimmy Griffin! I LOVE the song "I'll Be There"
Jimmy's vocals are so light and smooth, with flowing electric piano, and tasty sax work. This, and several other cuts should
have been BIG radio hits! There is no justice in the cruel music
world. Rest in peace Jimmy Griffin, you were awesome as this cd
clearly illustrates.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Songs, Superb Music, A Brilliant CD., November 26, 2001

13 wonderful tracks are featured on this 5 star rated CD by James Griffin and Terry Sylvester.
I've almost worn out my vinal copy, so I was delighted to find the album re-issued on CD. 3 bonus tracks have been added to the original 10.
The opening song "Please Come Into My Life" is pop music at it's finest. One of the bonus tracks "Aruba Town", makes me want to get on a plane to the West Indies, and drink cocktails on the beach.
The highlight for me is "Did You Hear The News Today", written in the 1980's, but with post September 11th 2001 sentiment.
If you like this CD you should also like Terry Sylvester's double CD digi-pack, "complete works 1969 - 1982.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Music, May 7, 2010

Although I am a big David Gates fan, but I also like the late and under-appreciated Jimmy Griffin. He released an album in England!! in1978 which is one of my all time favorites, but has never been released on CD. Jimmy passed away several years ago. David Gates now is the only surviving member of the Bread.
