5.0 out of 5 stars A little expensive but you get what you pay for.
If you are a cheapo like me you prob thinking you can get away with buying baby powder and save the $14 -$20 you are going to pay. Well, ill tell you what when I broke up one block of this (8 blocks per order) I realized I was going to have a lot of chalk for a long long time. I filled about 2 inches of a sandwich bag with just like about a 1/4 block and still thats a...

Just received noticed this shipped today. I ordered it two weeks ago, and it was supposed to ship within a few days. As far as reviewing the product, well, it's gym chalk. How can you screw it up? Answer - wait a week and a half to even ship the order. That's what I get for not going directly to the vendor to order and instead, ordering a specialty item through...

If you are a cheapo like me you prob thinking you can get away with buying baby powder and save the $14 -$20 you are going to pay. Well, ill tell you what when I broke up one block of this (8 blocks per order) I realized I was going to have a lot of chalk for a long long time. I filled about 2 inches of a sandwich bag with just like about a 1/4 block and still thats a lot. Prob a 1/4 - 1/2 a block would last me 1 - 2 months using a moderate amount chalking up before every lift 3 days a week. Worst case scenario one order (8 blocks) should last you one year ! Do the math, even if u use a little bit more than 1/2 a block a month still thats about a year. Oh and it sure beats baby powder, baby powder is smelly and it gives u a soft grip. This chalk gives you a firm grip and does not have smell. Well if you are reading this review, do reviews on this or any other products because its what makes this work. I use to get lazy and not do them but I realized that there are people out there that help us by reviewing so the least you can do is help them by doing a review.

It have recently started serious training again after several years and to my surprise Dicks Sporting Goods, Sports Authority and other sport stores no longer carry hand chalk. ridiculous. Anyways, Amazon of course had it. Now I could have gone to a outdoor store and found some in the rock climbing sections, but I knew I would be needing it in bulk since I use it everyday and it would be cheaper on Amazon. You can use this chalk for any gym use. I use it on gymnastic rings, olympic lifts, kettlebells and the like and I am very pleased with the results. You can't get a better deal than this. I will say this though, if your expecting the chalk to be in powder form, it is not. They are solid pieces of chalk, however you can break them and make them into powder form. I typically break some of it up into powder and leave the rest solid and use accordingly to my exercise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good gym chalk, March 24, 2010

When I started my strength training routine, it was suggested that I use chalk instead of gloves or straps. Not using gloves and straps can help develop grip, and so chalk is a good way to keep your hands dry and build your grip strength.

Since using it, deadlifts and power cleans have become so much more tolerable, and instead of being limited by hand pain, I'm only limited by how much weight my body can pull off the ground. I also believe that my grip has gotten stronger since using chalk.

Whether you buy this brand or not, you must make sure that it is magnesium carbonate. This is gym chalk. Any other compound is not, including bowler's rosin bags. Magnesium carbonate from Taiwan is the chalk that is made of win.

I didn't expect the package of chalk to be so huge. One of the blocks completely fills a ziploc bag with chalk, and you get eight blocks per package. I don't expect for this to run out any time soon.

A bit bulky, but it's to be expected since they are huge bricks of chalk. Not heavy, just odd to carry around. Does its job though, significantly less callousing.
