Product Description

Inspired by traditional Graniteware, our Enamelware blends old-fashioned charm and functionality into one sturdy package. Built from heavy-gauge steel with a classic speckled enamel finish, every piece has been kiln-hardened twice at 1400° F to stand up to scratches and chipping. The three-ply construction maximizes heat distribution for even cooking and the bright stainless steel rim adds the perfect finishing touch to camp, cabin, RV or patio.

I've had this tea kettle 2 weeks and it has started to leak at the lowest seam. It can't be used and Amazon won't take it back. What a bad purchase.

OVERALL QUALITY
GSI sells mainly to the outdoor industry, to retailers such as REI, Campmor, L.L. Bean, Eastern Mountain Sports, Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops. Quality firms like this do not carry flawed items or items that are often returned. So ignore the negative reviews. This is no imitation camping tea kettle as one imitation reviewer notes. This is the real thing. There is no reason not to use it at home, but it has no whistle. Boiling it dry will likely ruin it.

CAPACITY
This kettle is the right size for a small family or group. The 1.4L capacity (1.48 Qt., 48 fl oz) will serve 12 fl oz of hot water for coffee, tea or cocoa for each of four people, or 16 fl oz each for three. For general travel or camping most people store small items inside the kettle to save space.

THE SHAPE
The domed shape of the kettle with its wide base is a classic design that speeds up the boiling time with its huddled, sloped walls and rounded top.

THE ENAMEL FINISH
As far as the rust protective enamel over carbon steel finish goes, yes it can be chipped and later rust on that place if you strike it hard with a hard object such as a rock or a heavy cast iron pot. Over the years that will very likely happen to the exterior, a cosmetic issue, but if the enamel is ever chipped inside, an unlikely event, discard the kettle to be safe. The indigo blue is the same you would find steaming on a westward-bound pioneer campfire.

THE HANDLE
The heat dissipating, spiraled steel handle reminds me of the handles on antique wood-burning stoves of yore (forgot, I should have said retro). The lid can become very warm over the open fire so I usually use a hot pad to pour boiling water. Sometimes the handle can become hot enough to make you flinch when gripped.

Cheap metal that made my tea taste like lead. I'm sorry I paid allot for it. But I found it great for other projects.

This is a great teapot. The handle is deceiving. It never gets hot! Holds plenty of water. The outside, stays clean looking. Vinegar boiled inside cleans out the calcium build up I get. Looks great sitting on the range. Adds the blue I want in my kitchen. And heck can take it camping!

The style is exactly what my wife wanted for her kitchen, but it is a little lighter than we thought it would be. We expected a heavier gauge metal, but so far, it has been perfect.

Perfect tea kettle. I Love it; I'm never looking back. It arrived on time, and when I opened the box inside was exactly the tea kettle I was expecting. Never looking back.
