GTC Smartach+ wireless ignition analyzer and tachometer 's unique and proprietary technology allows the user to perform quick and reliable diagnostics of non-starts, misfires, fouled up or damaged spark plugs and/or spark plug wires, by comparing digital read-outs of the spark plug voltage between cylinders on engines using conventional distributor/ignition coil, DIS (Distributor-less) or waste spark and magneto technologies. This is simple to use, is equipped with a large digital that shows spark plug voltage, RPM, as well as minimum and maximum readings.

Using this product to tune all my 2 cycle equipment; chainsaws, etc. Just an incredible product, simple to use and very accurate. Yes, it does cost more than some other products out there, but at least this unit is NOT limited to just single cylinder two cycle engines. You won't be disappointed.

Great device. Great for ignition wire kilovolt testing. I also used it to verify my in-dash tachometer reading (turns out my in-dash tach is not that accurate). It's light and very easy to use, just hold it over the distributor cap and the RPMs pop up. It can also be used with distributorless systems (I believe all you need to do is to set it to 2 cycle if your engine uses a waste spark system). I needed to diagnose a vibration in an older GM car and the diagnosis required an accurate RPM reading. The SmarTach was key. I would imagine it would also be a great aid if you need to set idle speed or any kind of RPM dependent work. There are no wires to set up. It really is a smart diagnostic tool. Works with 2 to 12 cylinder engines, 2 cycle and 4 cycle.

I bought this to service and tune up chainsaws. The case is tough. The unit itself is very durable. Works exactly like the demo video in the listing. Very easy to use. Turns itself off after a minute of idle time (which is good for battery life). The reset button allows you to quickly get and clear your highs for carb adjustments on two strokes. Amazon has the lowest price by a long shot. Highly recommended.
