Thanks to GTO, now I'm a zombitaku . . .,

This review is from: GTO Box Set Vol. 1 (DVD)
I only started watching GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka) about a month ago, and now I'm hooked. You see the problem with GTO is that it's too addicting. I've already watched volumes 1-3, skipped 4 and then bought and watched 5-7; yep, only 4 volumes left to go. I'm like an anime zombitaku (that's zombie and otaku jumbled together; yeah I know waaay too much free time); "must . . . watch . . . G . . . T . . . O . . ."
Anyways, GTO is an excellent anime series with something to offer anyone who is willing to watch. And trust me you're gonna need plenty of time to watch, because once you do you won't be able to stop. It's like a drug-induced joy ride complete with karate-do, bikes, cars, races, girls in uniforms, comedy, plot and a whole lotta teacher-haters. Okay, about that plot. Onizuka (the Great Teacher guy) was once a biker gang big shot. Now he's on a mission to become the best teacher in all of Japan. But there's one thing stopping him; the students in his middle school class. Throughout the series Onizuka teaches and learns from his students. Helping the kids to work out their problems. Each one bringing him one step closer to his goal. Released by TOKYOPOP this is definitely a must-own series for any anime fan. Trust me you're gonna end up needing another pleasure inducing volume of GTO after the end of every DVD. So be prepared to spend, spend and spend some more. Be ready to join the GTO-junkie movement, heh, heh, heh . . . must . . . watch . . . G . . . T . . . O . . .

Great Teacher Onizuka,

I can say without a doubt that GTO is my favorite anime of all time. It tells the story of Eikichi Onizuka, an ex-biker and virgin, and his quest to become the greatest teacher alive. But to reach his goal he'll have to get by his proclaimed adversary the vice-principal, bullies, classroom terrorists, and the mob. All while trying to instill life lessons upon his students and find himself a girlfriend. To me GTO has it all: a great story, excellent character development, life applicable lessons, and enough laughs to having you rolling on the floor. If you haven't picked this up you're doing yourself a great injustice.*HIGHLY RECOMMENDED*

Incredible ride!,

I purchased all the DVDs individually. Each volume contains incredible stories taking you on a ride of laughs, paniced moments, frenzied 'what's gonna happen next?' and even a few tear jerkers! I think this is one of the most entertaining, diverse Anime series I have ever seen. The off-the-wall antics of Onizuka are something to behold! And the twists and turns in each story line keep you glued watching it! I highly recommend this! The first few ephisodes make him out to be a perve, and while he still kind of is, there's something captivating about him (that you'll discover if you keep watching). The animation quality is pretty good (not as good as say .hack, but very well done). The characters supporting GTO are also diverse, entertaining, and... Well, the whole thing is a train wreck that you just HAVE TO WATCH! ....

I love this series. If you enjoyed anime titles such as City Hunter, Cowboy Bebop, Love Hina or Trigun, you will love Great Teacher Onizuka.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE gto, I'm a hardcore fan of gto and I would live on a deserted island if only I had my gto (the manga), which brings me to my point. The manga is MUCH better .. not because the animation is bad (on the contrary I think it's pretty good) but because gto is such a plot filled story that in the anime all that plot was just sucked away. The most important details that in the manga explain everything and the clues and hints given to you volume by volume, are not in the anime. Regardless of that, is SOOOOO GOODD i recomend you to go buy it NOW !!! it's hilarious, original and has deep plot (not the kind of plot that u just want to puke and die, on the contrary) very good plot, and the characters are complex(more on the manga ..much much more). With that said, if u can get your hands on the manga before you see the anime it would be awesome and you will understand what I mean. There's 25 volumes with the 24th out now. Almost over .. :'(
You just can't get enough of GTO, it's an addiction, :D

GTO was the first anime, besides DBZ that I'd ever seen and the first in Japanese. I have to agree with other reviewers. The English track is terrible. The Japanese voice actors are much better. Just a warning, you have to stick with it past the first few episodes. It starts out with Onizuka, a man in his mid-twenties trying to get a peek up teenage girls' skirts and him fantasizing about a 16 year old wife. (Note: age of consent is a bit lower in Japan I believe). He's not really a pedophile, just immature. If you bear with the beginning you'll love it. Onizuka wants to be a teacher very badly, even if his motives are a bit warped at times. Despite his sometimes lack of maturity, his heart is in the right place and he does what is right every time (though the principal's car gets destroyed several times in the process) It has a great storyline, lots of action, a little romance (with a woman his age), and tons of humor. Trust me, you'll love it!

Eikichi Onizuka is a tough 22 year old biker and a foul mouth person but I can't also believes he's is a teacher who really cares about his students and a virgin which can ruin his reputation. He has a weird way of saving a nerd name Noboru who been bullied at school and decided's to attempts suicided. Onizuka saves him by trashing the vice principals treasured car O ya he's a real role model.

Great series,

Definitely my favorite anime. Anyone who enjoys anime should check this out. However, I recommend listening to it in Japanese with subtitles. The English voice acting is horrible and, even though I don't speak the language, the characters are far more interesting with the Japanese voices.

I love this show. But it makes me wonder about Japan youth. Are they seriously that messed up? Anyway this is a must have for any anime freak. It has comedy, action, love, and one memorable lead character. Onizuka is the man of all anime leading men. I mean seriously.
This story is about one man's journey to being the greatest teacher in the world. I think he does a damned fine job. How he has to deal with the youth of Japan and make them into respectable members of society. His methods may be a little extreme but that's what makes him the greatest teacher ever. This show will make you laugh from beginning to the end, and almost every thing Onizuka says is not only the truth but is intellegent. Which is kind of odd when you first meet his character. All and all this is one of the best shows I've ever seen. Trust me you'll enjoy this. Peace

Check out the used and new section for the complete collection of the GTO TV series from chap.1-43(end)! Personnally, I saw the whole series and honestly GTO rocks! If you want to die laughing, that's the anime to buy. However people told me that the graphism wasn't as good as in the manga, but I don't really care, I still think that it is great.
