2.0 out of 5 stars shallow research, January 3, 2000

This review is from: GTO (Enthusiast Color) (Paperback)
I read this book in 2 hours, from start to finish. I expected the same dense and complete information as was provided by Paul Zazarine's book on the first generation GTO. Unfortunately this book is based on shallow, superficial and therefore insufficient research. It's a descriptive book, a photo album basically. It basically describes the interior, exterior and engine types of the 1964 to 1974 GTOs. Stuff that any reader could figure out if he or she stood next to a car and took a good look at it. There is very little information on the history or background info on the GTO. Where the author doesn't know the facts he'll just say "due to an unknown reason...".

However, the book contains some beautiful and glossy pictures of gtos. Here again, the work is poor. For example, when the book talks about the 1965 gto, there is only one picture of a 65 and the other photos in the 1965 model chapter are all of 1966 cars. Very few pictures of interiors or different options. There also is some repetitive information meaning that facts will be repeated several times on different pages.

Conclusion : a decent book for a first contact with the goat but for real buffs and people wanting to know more about its history, check out Paul Zazarine's work !

1.0 out of 5 stars No Substance!, September 7, 2000

This review is from: GTO (Enthusiast Color) (Paperback)
The author(s) of this book are obviously not Pontiac enthusiasts, it would not have taken very much time to have a knowledgable person proof read this short book. Most of the cars are not correct, missing trim, dirty or damaged. The opinions presented are shallow and without merit. There are a few good pictures of royal bobcat decals and a couple of reproduced Pontiac ads making the $12.00 purchase worthwhile to me, but this book is not a source of factual information, in fact I found it very annoying to read.
