4.0 out of 5 stars Great Replacement for Halogen 50W GU10 Spot
POSITIVES:
The Warm White version of this bulb is the first viable energy efficient replacement I have found for a 50 watt Halogen GU10 spot light. It is roughly the same brightness and color, lasts 5 years instead of 1, hardly produces any heat (halogens run HOT), and uses only about 5 watts of electricity. 2.0 out of 5 stars Color temperature issue
So according to the photos for this product, the warm white bulb projects a true white light, while the white bulb shows a yellow-ish hue. This misrepresentation of color temperature is my continued issue with this vendor.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Replacement for Halogen 50W GU10 Spot, January 20, 2010

The lifespan alone should cover the purchase price and they save 90% of the electricity cost of running halogens, making them cheaper in the long run. I've had 7 of these bulbs for 5 months now, through electrical storms, brownouts, and blackouts and no trouble at all.

Another reviewer complained that the vendor mis-represents the color, but to me, the White looks white and the Warm White looks golden (halogen) yellow. Exactly what I would expect and reasonably matching the photos. The "White" is a little brighter, but I went with "Warm White" so I could replace my existing Halogens one-by-one as they go out. It's hard to tell which is which (the halogens glow through the back of the bulb and the LEDs don't).

CAVEATS:
Test your bulbs when they arrive! Out of the 7 bulbs I ordered from LED Wholesalers, One was completely dead on arrival and another emitted only a feeble glow. You can't do exchanges, but the return process couldn't be easier (I opted for free UPS pickup).

As of Feb 7, 2010, shipping is $5.17 if you don't qualify for Free Super-Saver Shipping. Instead of clicking "Buy With One Click," buy another item or buy two at once so that you can choose Free Super-Saver Shipping at checkout.

COMPARISONS:
I've tried a couple of other LED GU10s, but both are now sitting unused in a drawer:

- Brightest GU10 SMD SMT LED Wide Angle Light Bulb, warm white isn't even as bright as a 20W Halogen GU10.

- GU10 5050 SMD LED Wide Angle led replacement for halogen, White 1232WH is fairly bright, but so wide-angle (almost 90 degrees) that it's hard to compare against even the widest-angle halogen GU10s and it produces a somewhat sickly green color.

4.0 out of 5 stars GU10 LED Bulbs for Wine Cellar, July 29, 2010

This review is from: GU10 3x1 Watt LED Spot Light Bulb = 20W, warm white, 1226ww (Misc.)
I bought these for my wine cellar light. I wanted to have LEDs, instead of the Halogen bulbs, to prevent the heat output from the halogens from raising the temp in the cellar should they be left on. Because of the potential heat output, I have the light in the cellar on a motion activated switch such that the light is only on when someone is actually present in the cellar. The 4 bulbs work fine when the motion detection switch is the in "forced on" position. When I put the switch into the "Auto" position, where the lights are activated via motion, the bulbs turn into strobe lights. They literally flicker about 2 times a second. When I switch back to "On" on the switch, the bulbs operate normally. Deal breaker for me, but wanted to put it out there.

Also, the lights are a bit white, and not quite "warm" amber color.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice LED bulb was received (but received standard socket instead of GU10 ordered--found good use for it), July 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: GU10 3x1 Watt LED Spot Light Bulb = 20W, warm white, 1226ww (Misc.)
I received a good quality standard socket LED bulb from LED wholesalers. I would have given it 5 stars except that what I ordered was a GU10 bulb. I give it 4 stars on the benefit of the doubt that their GU10 would be of similar quality, and also since I found a good use for the standard socket bulb, am satisfied with it, and never contacted them about the mistake.
