5.0 out of 5 stars Dense and serious
This book in DENSE. The author crammed lots of information on very few pages. This book, while it has "cheat sheets" , is not for the true beginner or someone with a mind to dabble and just have fun. If you are graph and chart oriented, this is for you.
The author is very quick to send his product and it meets and excedes the description provided.

3.0 out of 5 stars not the new peanut butter
I suspect that many of these reviews are faked or something, because this isn't the best thing next to peanut butter. The author knows some good stuff about basic music theory; but the information can also be found, for free, on a number of web sites.

5.0 out of 5 stars I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!!!, February 2, 2007
This review is from: GUITAR Oriented MUSIC THEORY including Cheat-Sheets - BOOK (Plastic Comb)
I have been looking for a guitar theory book like this for years!!! The book is JAM-PACKED with information. It is well-written and easy to understand, and it covers every guitar theory topic in one easy-to-use book. Given all of the areas is covers, it should be a much thicker book, but the author makes efficient use of space without making the book seem too cluttered or confusing. Undoubtedly the best I've seen. This book is the standard by which all other guitar theory books should be judged.

This book is just what I needed to shake the dust off my guitar knowledge. Concise information that is pertinent to guitar-related music theory. This information enables the user to teach him/herself at their own pace. Going to start scheduling some practice time with myself, and this book will defintely help out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Guitar Music Theory, Very Dense, Not For Beginners or Intermediates, May 18, 2010

GUITAR Oriented MUSIC THEORY including Cheat-Sheets - BOOK (Plastic Comb)
Robert Frazier must be a genius to come up with these cheat sheets. It is very very dense and you will most likely not understand it if you are a beginner or intermediate in guitar theory. Although, IT IS A GREAT REFERENCE to have even if you are a beginner. Its good to have this book as a reference then have other books or videos to teach you. Then go back to this reference to know where you are.
I have owned this book for almost a year and I have to say the first time i bought I was scared and wanted to throw away my guitar. I guess thats why patience is called a virtue. hahaha. Some of my friends taught me scales and modes and coming back to this book, it actually clarified what they taught me. Even the you tube videos made more sense because of this book.
I strongly recommend it. Be brave and not be intimidated by all the patterns. If you are the type who visualizes in patterns this will be a good book for you. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars just what the doctor ordered, December 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: GUITAR Oriented MUSIC THEORY including Cheat-Sheets - BOOK (Plastic Comb)
This book, "Guitar Oriented music theory" is an amazing book. The price is higher than other books that you'll find at amazon, but this is the one book that will have everything that you're looking for and everything that you'll need as far as the science of music goes, the rest comes from your creation. My only gripe is that I wish that some of the charts were larger. Believe me, they are plenty big to understand and learn from, it is only a minor downfall. The book is awesome from an independent writer/musician. If a publisher were to purchase the rights, they would have no need to publish another book, because this contains everything. If you're reading these reviews, I think it is safe to say that you're looking for a book on music theory; my advise is to purchase this book. It will be at your doorstep in 2-3 days and you can learn from it for a lifetime.

Peace.

If you are serious about theory and how it pertains to the neck of the guitar this is a very useful book to own. A lot of what you have read, been taught or know about music theory is laid out in handy, condensed chart form for quick reference with concise explanations. It will help those learning theory but it is a serious, smart compilation of reference information for those with advanced musical skill.

Not for the beginner, the intermediate player, be prepared to read very closely and seriously. A lot of thought was put into making this condensed and makes for a very good resource.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Theory book I've seen, July 28, 2009
This review is from: GUITAR Oriented MUSIC THEORY including Cheat-Sheets - BOOK (Plastic Comb)
I own several theory books, but this is the most comprehensive and well thought out guitar theory book I've seen. While not for the beginner, it lays out theory in a way anyone who really wants to understand can learn. I've bought guitar oriented theory books before, but this book is mapped out from the perspective of someone who really wants to help the reader understand. It inspired me, as a teacher, to look for new ways to teach. This book is the real deal! I would've paid more for it.

I am a bass player, and learned advanced music theory in the class room and on the bass. This book really helped me apply my knowledge from the bass to the guitar. I also teach, and this is a great guide to teaching music theory. However, it is not for beginners. Like other reviews said, this is not a casual read. Be prepared to play the examples, write out the exercises and play through them. But after all is said and done, this book contains a ton of useful, practical information, and is a great addition to any teachers books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Guitar Oriented Music Theory, November 16, 2007
This review is from: GUITAR Oriented MUSIC THEORY including Cheat-Sheets - BOOK (Plastic Comb)
Guitar players seem to fall into two categories. Those who can read notation and those who can't. So why is learning to play music such a killer?

For the biginning guitarist reading notation is like learning geometry. For the advanced player its learning Einstein's "Theory of Relativity.

But, it doesn't have to be that way. As mentioned in previous reviews this book takes the reader visually into the world of note theory without the usual dragged out chapters written in "Latin Text" which is associated with most books written about music theory.

For beginning guitar players this book helps to bridge the communication gap sometimes left at the end of a lesson between student and teacher. To quote an old adage "Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words".

For the advanced and re-entry level player this book is filled with instant visual information showing scale definitions, transposing, cord spelling, intervals, cycle of 5th diagrams, arpeggios, voice patterns and fingerboard layout relationships that are essential to becoming a better guitar player.

The bottom line is this book will open up a new world to your musical abilities. But, you will still need to devote time and effort to reach your full potential as a guitarist.
