From the Manufacturer

Your eyes are tired...staring at a computer for hours and hours takes its toll. The common solutions for handling eyestrain require you to modify your work habits or take numerous breaks throughout the day. They're all patchy fixes that pull you away from your work. So take your choice...digital eye fatigue or less productivity.

There is a better technology driven solution that works with and enhances properties of the human eye. Gunnar digital eyewear increases visual performance, prevents Digital Eye Fatigue (DEF) and protects against full-blown Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). It all begins with i-AMP lens technology -- an optical platform that incorporates proprietary lens materials, lens tints, lens coatings, and lens geometry. Gunnar digital performance eyewear is engineered for an immediate and profound visual advantage and now even the most demanding computer users are more productive and more effective for longer periods of time. Gunnar Digital Performance Eyewear -- the must have digital performance equipment for your digital lifestyle.

Catalyst Shredder
Full coverage. One of our largest frames, Shredder presents bold, angular lines and maximum viewable area. Three dimensional temples and precision cut frames with floating, adjustable nose pads for a customizable fit.

i-FI lens coatings
i-Fi lens coatings filter and protect. Our proprietary nano-filters help capture all of the good light coming from the computer screen while diffusing the bad reflective light and glare. The outer coating provides a protective layer that shields the lens from scratching, abrasion, and oxidation damage.

fRACTYL lens geometry
Computer generated fRACTYL lens geometry mimics nature through advanced science and engineering. Aiding the natural focusing power of the cornea, our lens geometry eases eyestrain caused by near distance computer viewing. fRACTYL lens geometry uses independently curved front and back surfaces to provide unparalleled distortion-free optics. Fused with Gunnar frames, the tightly arced lenses form a personal ocular microclimate that prevents dry eyes.

iONik lens tints
iONik lens tints take harsh artificial light and precisely tune it to match the anatomy of the eye. Our custom organic dye compounds condition and shift transmitted light into the preferred color spectrum, increasing visual contrast, detail and resolution. Edges of screen pixilated images read more easily and interfering blue light is reduced -- ultimately your eyes are less fatigued.

diAMIX lens material
No existing lens material had all the properties we needed. So we gave our lab techs the task of developing the lightest, most optically pure lens material possible. Beating out polycarbonate on the toughness scale and rivaling the undisputed optics of ground glass, diAMIX is the next generation of lens materials for those that demand the highest optical qualities.

My eyes used to get strained very easily before I got these glasses and now they never do.

Although these are beautifully designed, well-built glasses, they do not serve their intended purpose.
D. Crenshaw
I bought a pair of Gunnar optics when they first came out and now they are getting better and better.

I've had excellent vision, right up to my career which involved working at a computer every day. A trip to the eye doctor only gave me a suggestion for low powered reading glasses. I tried several but reading glasses focus too close. After a while I stopped trying and just dealt with the strain. The biggest problem was that, at the end of the day, driving was a problem since I couldn't focus well (had to squint).

When I got these glasses I was hopeful. They have the right focus range and level of magnification. My hopes were immediately justified. They work great! After spending a long day at work I can drive home and my vision is better than it used to be. I don't feel strained at all while on the computer. In fact, if I'm at the computer and I don't have them on, I can sense the strain and feel exposed.

There is only one caveat. If you have a prescription I suggest that you get the prescription version of these glasses. They are available at many locations. Just have a look at the Gunnar site.

Some people seem to have problems cleaning them or have other issues. In my experience they do smudge easy, but they also clean easy, and I've only used my carrying cloth to clean them and have no lasting problems. The frame screws have backed out a little once or twice, and the lense popped out a couple of times too. I was able to get them back in place easily.

I've owned a pair for almost a year and am very happy. I'm looking to get a second pair in fact, for home. That would help with the screw/popping issues. The only times that ever happened was when I was carrying them in a cargo pant/short pocket or somewhere else they shouldn't be.

As a workaholic software developer, I stare at 1-2 screens for 12+ hours a day. These glasses, while slightly silly looking (coworkers joke I'm going hunting), definitely do reduce eye strain.

Only downside to them is that they smudge really easily (could just be that this is my first pair of non-sun glasses). Definitely need to invest in a cleaning cloth as I probably clean them 4-5 times a day at least.

I'm a guy with extraordinarily sensitive eyes, to the point I can't walk outside without a higher-end pair of Oakley's on if I don't want the light to give me an experience akin to a camera flash going off in my face, and I find the Gunnar products to be a godsend. I spend a lot of time either in front of multiple LCD monitors or my Samsung 9000 series led tv, mostly for video games, and these glasses alter the experience significantly. The slight magnification and lens geometry snap whatever you're looking at into the center of your vision and reduce glare better than anything else I've tried. The amber lens tint reduces blues slightly, but I haven't found it to be a problem at all...one might expect everything to take on an amber tint, but that's simply not the case. My only (small) complaint is that you need to clean thes often, as the inside of the lenses get a bit smudged. I actually purchased the Catalyst Shredder model after winning a pair of the MLG Legend aviator style Gunnars at a tournament and love them, but don't care for how the style looks on me...the Shredders remind me of a slightly larger version of my Oakley tinanium Whiskers, which are more my style (and my wife loves them on me). All in all, I strongly recommend Gunnar products and have every intention of buying their products for years to come, just as I've been buying Oakley's for around twenty years.

I use these glasses everytime I'm on the computer and I can stay on for a much longer time now. My eyes used to get strained very easily before I got these glasses and now they never do. These are the best!

I do (last 20 years) spend an inordinate amount of time in front of a computer and/or TV screen. In fact, I've been waiting for my eyes to finally just go... went to an eye doctor because it was hard for me to keep my eyes from burning after about 8:30PM. He said that the muscles around the eye's cornea begin to 'get old' and focusing becomes more difficult. My vision was fine but he gave me some eye drops to help with the 'tiredness'. If that sounds like you - then these glasses will make a big difference! I've never worn glasses before but these are light, well designed and extremely effective. In addition to the eye strain relief they do provide the type of vision enhancements that you would expect from a pair of marksmanship glasses (good for gaming). My only complaint is that I can see my eyeball reflected back at me from the lense when working on a computer in a dark room. Great for work - not so great for my usual late night computer sessions at home.

I'm not sure what the i-FI lens coatings are supposed to do, but they definitely did not reduce glare. These glasses did seem to have a positive effect on my computer viewing by making the screen appear clearer and easier on the eyes. However, they added a new element of reflective glare that would consistently give me a headache after about 20 minutes of use. Also, the lenses themselves are smudge magnets. Although these are beautifully designed, well-built glasses, they do not serve their intended purpose. Not recommended.
