4.0 out of 5 stars You're both right . . . and wrong!
The review title refers to the two previous reviewers. Here's the real deal. The Gevril GV2 HERCULES (8702, 8703, 8704 These refer to different colors) is different than other GV2 watches because of the movement. While this movement does have a battery it is NOT a quartz watch. The ESA Dynatron 9158 movement is an electric movement that was first produced in 1975. It is...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled by the savings
This is not a great watch, for starters it arrived D.O.A. not a big deal, I had a new battery put in and it was ready to go. However after a few weeks of use I found that it is loosing time, and it's not a small amount either, over the corse of a week it will loose several minutes. Because this is a Quartz watch there is no fix for the loss of time and the entire...

It is the first electric movement to use a transistor. But the transistor acted like a switch to control a balance wheel. So actually this is a mix of the old and new in watch movements. Now as to Omega; yes they did use this movement in some of their watches of the period. As to the $3250 list price; I only wish the watch was sold at that price. The true price point is in the $600-$900 range. Now, the good news for Mr./Ms Wolf is that being mostly mechanical this watch CAN be adjusted for accuracy. The bad news is not many people know how to do it. There is a website called Electric Watches (I don't know if I am allowed to give an actual URL) that can turn you on to some people who can do the job.
Now as to the Gevril GV2 8703 in general, it is a good quality watch made from good components, other than the movement, and had a good fit and finish. In my opinion it is well worth the $750 price that Amazon is selling it for today.

This is not a great watch, for starters it arrived D.O.A. not a big deal, I had a new battery put in and it was ready to go. However after a few weeks of use I found that it is loosing time, and it's not a small amount either, over the corse of a week it will loose several minutes. Because this is a Quartz watch there is no fix for the loss of time and the entire mechanism will have to be replaced, fortunately it is under warranty (I hope). Both the dead battery and the loss of time contribute to this watch getting one star, but what really bugs me is the bogus list price, $3,295.00. Today it's listed at $575, I paid just $290 (great deal right), but $290 feels like the real price of this watch. I own several watches, an Omega Speedmaster, Oakley Minute Machine, and a Citizen Perpetual Calendar just to name a few. My Omega is over 40 years old, has never been in for a major service, and keeps perfect time, granted it's a true mechanical watch but its age is what is important. The Oakley Minute Machine lists for $1,000 and it feels like it should, the fit and finish is great and it's never missed a beat. The Citizen is like a Japanese car, reliable, and at $420 a great deal for a titanium watch. My advice is simple, if you're in the market for a watch in the $300 - $600 range buy something from one of the big watch companies, i.e. Citizen, Seiko, Timex, Swatch, even Oakley. Don't be fooled into thinking you got a great deal on a $3,295 watch.
