Easier to apply than powder,

This review is from: St Gabriel #80080 7M Milky Spore Grub Mix
About 30 years ago in our first home we applied Milky Spore powder to our small lawn and never had a problem with grubs or Japanese Beetles (we still had to watch out for adults that migrated into our garden, solved primarily by a little hand picking and dropping into a pail of soapy water, pretty easy since the beetles' first reaction when disturbed is to drop -- straight into the pail!).
When we moved to a home with a much much larger lawn space, we chose to use the granulated, spreadable product as it was easier to apply. We are into third season of application, and so far similar results: no grub problems, and minimal adult beetles, though we are still breaking out the soapy water pails in the heart of summer, especially for our bean plants). The granulated product seems expensive at first because of the repeat applications, but given its coverage, purchasing -- and applying -- the powder form would probably come out to a similar cost. While other reviews make claims of immediately seeing dead grubs all over the place, this has not been our experience -- nor should it be. The treatment works because it infests the soil with a disease that infects only Japanese beetle grubs and slowly kills them. They die in the soil and spread more spores in the process. If they were all to crawl out and die on the sidewalks and pavements, the milky spore approach would not work (nothing to continue spreading the disease). So if you apply, don't expect to immediately see dead grubs all over the place. But then that is the beauty of organic pest control approaches: you are not trying to eradicate immediately a pest, but bring the population under control in a more balanced, ecosystem-friendly way that has the added benefit of lasting longer.

Works Well,
By However, I forgot to put it down this past spring and my neighbor decided to use it too. So of course, ALL the grubs from HIS yard came over to MY yard. The bag states that once put down for 2 years and 2 seasons, it would last for 10 years. This is NOT true, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. When you first the milky spore down, within 2 weeks, I saw dead grubs all over the place AND it is SAFE for Pets too!!!!

This is a terrific product. My yard has become a grub nursery over the years and I can already tell a difference since I have applied the milky spore mix.
PROS: Easy to spread but I would recommend a broadcast spreader instead of the drop spreader recommended by the manufacturer. CONS: Description really needs to detail the application directions and how much the bag covers. It is recommended that you use the product 3 times a years for 2 years for the most effective coverage. (I am planning to do this). Bag states it covers 7000 sq feet.
