5.0 out of 5 stars The Developer Listens and "Gets It" September 30, 2013
Verified Purchase
You have wonderful reviews regaling the awesomeness of this game. I'll concur with them. What I discovered, though, is that the developer seems to have looked at previous game reviews and made two lists: To Do, and Not To Do - those are the questions he answered.

This game, while having internet access, is devoid of any other concerns or permission issues. Grade: A

The game has a very detailed and engaging tutorial. Grade: A+

The developer put a lot of thought into the graphics and sound effects. Grade: A+

The developer gives you the entire game. Wait a minute... there's a locked bonus puzzle? Well, yes, there is a locked bonus puzzle. However, the developer gave NON-FACEBOOK USERS another method to unlock the bonus puzzle by simply reviewing the game. But wait.. there's more! You don't even have to leave a review! All you need to do is simply click the link and then press your back button. Puzzle unlocked. Grade: B.

Obviously, I'd like to see the bonus puzzle already unlocked, but its easy enough to get unlock it without having to deal with Facebook. Some music might be nice, maybe something themed for each painting. Still, not necessary. Really, the only thing I feel really would help this game would be to give a bigger separation between the paint brush and the hammer. It's too easy to accidentally hit the one you didn't want.

None of the issues warrant reducing a star. Indeed, this game should serve as an example of how to listen to your customers and offer a great game people are glad to have purchased.

Final Grade: A

[EDIT: oops. typo.]

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly addicting logic puzzles August 19, 2012
Verified Purchase
NOTE: The puzzles in "Simple Pleasures" are - in my opinion - just a bit easier to solve than most of the FlipPix Art series, and would be a good place to start for those unfamiliar with this kind of puzzle.

If you've tried any of GabySoft's FlipPix Art series, you probably understand why these puzzles are so popular. The apps contain picture logic puzzles in which cells in a grid have to be colored or left blank according to numbers given at the side of the grid to reveal a hidden picture. Solving the FlipPix Art puzzles is a marvelously fun way to develop and practice logic skills. These kinds of puzzles are known as nonograms or griddlers, and they're extremely popular, with entire websites devoted to them. Each puzzle consists of an array of tiles, each of which is either filled or empty, Your goal is to determine which tiles are filled and which are empty.

In this puzzle type, the numbers measure how many unbroken sets of filled-in tiles there are in any given row or column. For example, a clue of "2 4 1" would mean there are sets of two, four, and one filled tiles, in that order, with at least one blank tile between successive groups.

If this isn't clear enough, don't worry, the FlipPix app includes an excellent tutorial to get you started. Puzzles come in three grid sizes:

1. 5x5 grid. These are pretty easy, and they're great for beginners. There are up to three hints available, but you probably won't need them.

2. 10x10 grid. These are much more challenging, and they're my favorite size. In a few of these, I had to use some of the hints.

3. 15x15 grid. Brutally difficult and tedious. I have yet to finish one of these without having to restart the puzzle a few times.

For any grid size, you're only allowed two errors.

These puzzles are fun. Most are not real hard but some are very hard, so you get a good mix. I find these puzzles addictive, so don't start unless you have time to play.

5.0 out of 5 stars An attractive, well-done nannogram game September 30, 2013
Verified Purchase
This is one of those logic games also known as "nannograms" where you use logic to fill in squares on a grid to form a picture.  It's got a good tutorial and help info.  A little twist is that the items you uncover are added to a photo.  You can play grids of 5x5, 10x10 and 15x15.

Default is to have errors marked permanently with big red x's.  Yikes!  But you can also select "Ignore Errors" under Options.  You can adust the sound in the Options, too.  You can set it up for multiple players.  Playable in airplane mode.  Plays in landscape mode and will flip when turned 180 degrees.  Untimed, but it will track how many hints and mistakes you have made..

I like it, it's attractive on my Fire HD8.9 and I like the fact that you can mark squares that are definitely empty by  breaking them with a hammer. It's also playable on my Samsung Galaxy S2, though you have to scroll the 15x15 grid, and technically you have to scroll the 10x10 grid, though it's neglible and you can see the whole grid, you just can't see both the top numbers and the bottom numbers at the same time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love FlipPix!
Love flippix. You get a grid of 5x5, 10x10, 15x15 or 20x20. Then you have to fill it in based on the number clues given for each line. No timer so it's a good relaxer. Read more
