This fourth volume of the Continental Philosophy series opens with an account by Gadamer of his own life and work and their relation to the achievements of hermeneutics. Gadamer and Hermeneutics presents a series of essays that links Gadamer to other major contemporary philosophers. There are special sections on Gadamer's relationship to Heidegger, Ricouer, Barthes, Derrida and Habermas. The volume concludes with three dialogues around the questions of metaphor, science and the text, each essay shedding special light on the hermeneutic process.
