Editorial Reviews

2013 album from the legendary drummer. For Gadditude, his tenth outing as a leading and second for BFM Jazz, Steve Gadd got a little help from his distinguished friends - guitarist Michael Landau, keyboardist Larry Goldings, trumpeter Walt Fowler and bassist Jimmy Johnson. Together they had already established a high degree of bandstand chemistry as the touring band for superstar singer-songwriter James Taylor. That goes a long way in explaining the sense of comfort and ease from track to track on this relaxed session recorded in just one week at Landau's home studio.

Customer Reviews

Lots of great dynamics, space, and separation of the instruments.
Chicagofraize
I'm giving this cd 3 stars, because I think it's better than average, but by no means his best.
Anthony Accordino
Steve Gadd is amazing and his band is with him every step of the way.

Attention all Portnoy fans, and such the like. Take a MAJOR lesson in the ART of SUBTLETY. These cats are masters of their craft. Relax in your favorite listening chair and Spin this CD a few times to understand how these guys take there cue from Mr. Gadd's approach to each tune.

Masterfully executed and crafted by one of the worlds MASTER OF Drums... Can I get a Steve Gadd up in here?????

I was expecting some funky gadd tunes. I don't know why, just was. But to be honest, this album is slow and pretty boring to my liking anyway. The playing is fine, and the players are great. The songs however are all slow and kind of tedious.

Somewhat understated but worth the buy if only for a seldom and amazing bass-solo from Jimmy Johnson. Of course it grooves abundandly and Michael Landau keeps confirming his star-status among guitarplayers. Buy it.

Great players! One of the best drummers ever! Would have preferred a little more aggressive stuff. You could not ask for a more stellar lineup of musicians!

What can you say about a drummer who has played with everyone from Paul Simon to Paul McCartney. Who had the back beat on "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" by Leo Sayer? it would be Steve Gadd. This combo is vey enjoyable and solid. Nice tunes by Larry Golding and others like Keith Jarrett. I wish their were more of Steve letting loose. A good album however.

Introspective and emotionally sensitive without being schmaltzy . Keith Jarrett's piece Country is a delight and Landau plays it
with soul .

I had high hopes for this record... what a stellar lineup, some of today's finest session/touring players, all gifted with tremendous
chops but also capable of great restraint.
Well... this record was not what I'd hoped for. Bland, noodly, almost like a dull singer/songwriter album that they forgot to put vocals on. Sorry, guys. Totally forgettable.
