This review is from: Gaggia 87003 Espresso De Luxe Espresso Machine, Black (Kitchen)
This Gaggia 87003 espresso machine made good espresso and frothed milk for about 18 months. It then quit delivering hot water and steam and must be replaced. Maintenance became an increasing nightmare over the months.I will carefully review reviews in future!

This review is from: Gaggia 87003 Espresso De Luxe Espresso Machine, Black (Kitchen)
This Gaggia espresso machine has worked for years trouble free daily. Every couple of months it does require routine maintenance to remove the build up of boiler scale just like any espresso machine would otherwise it will plug up as the other reviewers discovered. Amazon sells the Cleancaf brand which I have used successfully for years now. It is easy to use and keeps the machine working trouble free.I don't make lattes or steam milk. I just make short double espressos excellent every time in my demitasse cups. To prime the pump is easy. The water tank is easy to fill up with water. It comes with a tamp and group to tamp down the ground coffee beans into. I use a burr grinder which is important for making good espresso so that you have even sized bits of coffee grounds; otherwise you may get channeling and therefore not have all the steam under pressure going through all of the coffee grounds resulting in a weak cup of coffee. The green light comes on when the machine has heated up and is ready to use. I usually run a empty shot of water through the group to heat it up unless I've left the espresso machine on for a while; then it heats up fine. My steam want does work; but I don't use it. I have not hand any trouble with my machine. It is wonderful to have home made espresso made better than at cafes. It is also less expensive to make my own espresso. I've been really happy with my Gaggia Espresso machine. |
