5.0 out of 5 stars Core Plus Reformer Kicks Abs
I just got the CPR and used it immediately. It made Pilates much easier and much more effective. My wife also used it and found the DvD easy to follow.

Mari's workout was fun and challenging. We certainly felt the effects in our core but also in our arms and legs. This is a great workout and I highly recommend it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Beginner Program
I bought this with the hope that it would mimic Refromer exercises without having to pay $2,000-$3,000 for and actual reformer. What the band does is make classic pilates exercises easier, rather than adding much resistance. 2.0 out of 5 stars Bands or Tubing Can Get the Same Work Done, July 18, 2009
By
This review is from: Gaiam Coreplus Reformer Kit w/Mari Winsor (Sports)
I saw the article previewing this in Pilates Style magazine and anxiously awaited its arrival in the market. But the exercises are nothing more than doing Pilates with a strong C curve and rubber tubing. I was hoping this would be a great workout and it is a great idea to create a "portable" reformer, but it is nothing different or innovative! Try any band/tubing workout out there. They are just as effective.

4.0 out of 5 stars Takes Pilates to a new level, March 8, 2009

This routine works every part of your body and it definately takes Pilates to a new level. Pilates is very good for toning and stretching the muscles and this reformer adds more challenge to the routine which makes it more fun. The reason I gave it 4 stars is that I find myself getting my feet caught in the cords during the changes to the next exercise and that is kind of frustrating. We aren't all graceful dancers so sometimes I have to stop the dvd to get situated for the next exercise. I expect that over time I'll get better at it but I'd rather be focused on practicing my Pilates moves and not have to stop to get my cords right. I'll keep working on it though because I like the way the Reformer challenges the muscles.

4.0 out of 5 stars LOVE this workout, April 24, 2009
This review is from: Gaiam Coreplus Reformer Kit w/Mari Winsor (Sports)
I have been doing pilates religiously for over two years and swear by Mari Winsor's workouts. This one is definitely challenging and the fact that she always has a modifier for each exercise is great but I wouldn't recommend this to someone who isn't familiar with pilates. Also, even at my skill level, the section that focuses on the legs and lower body is tricky- b/c the band sort of slips off your feet if you aren't paying attention. After doing this a few times now I really like it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quite a challenge, May 10, 2009
This review is from: Gaiam Coreplus Reformer Kit w/Mari Winsor (Sports)
The CorePlus Reformer is quite challenging, even for those proficient in Pilates. The DVD workout is helpful, but it was a bit difficult trying to watch the DVD while performing the exercises. The grips seemed to slide around somewhat, which was distracting and made it sometimes difficult to execute the exercises correctly. I would definitely recommend it but would caution beginners to go easy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Efficient, Instant results, March 22, 2010
This review is from: Gaiam Coreplus Reformer Kit w/Mari Winsor (Sports)
I love winsor pilates. I have the basic 3 dvd workout set, and have been able to achieve significant muscle tone and lengthening pretty quickly. The CorePlus Reformer Workout takes the pilates workut to an entirely new level!! It's much more challenging. The band is awesome for 3 reasons: 1) It adds much more resistance for a more powerful workout. 2) It allows you to achieve perfect form and makes you much more conscious of your movements, thus providing a more efficient workout! 3) You can be innovative and create your own movements with the band if you get bored following a dvd.... This workout is fantastic and I reccomend it to anyone looking to tone every inch of their body.

I have used the real reformer and did not think that this substitute was even close to being a good replacement. You can do as well with Pilates workouts that use resistance bands.

It's an interesting intro to the Coreplus band and it would be great if once you did the DVD a few times you could advance on to a real workout.

I'm in it for the pilates though. I will watch the video a few more times, write a list of what is done in the DVD, do it on my own and add repititions.

The concept of the coreplus band is a great one--I wish they would put out more DVDs at higher level.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, September 8, 2010
By
This review is from: Gaiam Coreplus Reformer Kit w/Mari Winsor (Sports)
Throughout this workout, I kept thinking to myself, "Well, Mari Winsor's figured out another way to repackage the same workout routine she's been doing for a decade, this time with rubber tubing." The DVD is no different from any other Winsor Pilates DVD, except she figures out elaborate ways to include the reformer bands which often impede your ability to do the moves effectively (for example, using the bands as resistance during the Pilates One Hundred actually helps you keep your body elevated, instead of forcing your abs to do the work). The bands are cheap, with the handles moving everywhere during the routines, and the workout is boring. As someone who's been doing Winsor Pilates for years, I was hoping for something different and fresh. Nope.
