5.0 out of 5 stars What a blessing!
My 10year old daughter was diagnosed with cancer when this album came out. The Hand of Sweet Release got me through those rough days. I am the ultimate Vocal Band fan. I love them and listen to their music ALL DAY! God bless you Guy,Mark,David and Bill

3.0 out of 5 stars Mary, Did You Know?
Not a big fan of most of these songs, group sounds good--I love close harmony--but bought for just the one song.

5.0 out of 5 stars GVB is awesome!, October 24, 1999

This CD is just great. They are four of the best singers around. "Mary, Did You Know?" is beautiful. I've heard others sing it, but no one does it better than Mark Lowry.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Christmas CD ever!!!, October 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Gaither Gospel Series - Still The Greatest Story Ever Told (Audio CD)
I am 14 and a huge fan of southern gospel music. I love the gaither vocal band. this christmas CD is by far one of the best I have ever heard if not the best. Each member sings so well and so beautifully on each song. there are a few traditonial songs but many are very new. "New Star Shining" "Mary did you know" are my two faveorites. "Mary Did You Know?" was written by baritone Mark Lowry. I love this CD and if you are looking for a good christmas CD i would highly reccomend this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent collection of fine Christmas songs., December 22, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Gaither Gospel Series - Still The Greatest Story Ever Told (Audio CD)
For those of you who are not yet aquainted with the Gaither Vocal Band, this album is a good introduction. The high level of vocal quality demonstrated by all four members of the group (lead singer Guy Penrod deserves special recognition having, in my opinion, one of the best voices in the music industry at large) creates a unique blend which rivals any vocal group, secular or Christian. This album contains possibly the latest addition to the 'Christmas Classics' in Mark Lowry's "Mary, Did You Know", and "New Star Shining" alone is worth the price of the album. The quality level of the Gaither Vocal Band, which has always been ahead of the rest, rises to a new level with this, their latest release.

The Gaither Vocal Band has become the #1 selling male quartet in America, and this release is a perfect representation of why. This CD can be listened to all year and not get tiring. Guy Penrod has one of the great lead voices anywhere and he is allowed to shine on many of the songs. Do yourself a favor and buy this for yourself for Christmas!

5.0 out of 5 stars BEAUTIFUL!!!!, September 4, 2001
This review is from: Gaither Gospel Series - Still The Greatest Story Ever Told (Audio CD)
This album is one of the best albums I've ever heard, period. Not just for Christmas, or Southern Gospel, or Gaither Vocal Band. The production is superb. The singing is fantastic. It's just one of the best!!! Only one word can describe this album...beautiful!!

The gems of this album are "Mary, Did You Know?" (penned by Mark Lowry), which showcases the power of these mens' voices, and "Hand Of Sweet Release," a moving song that tells how a little baby born in a manger was the one who would save us all.

If you don't own this album, BUY IT!! You will DEFINITELY be pleased!!

5.0 out of 5 stars good stuff, July 7, 2005
This review is from: Gaither Gospel Series - Still The Greatest Story Ever Told (Audio CD)
This is the first CD with David Phelps, and unfortunately they don't feature him much. This is a VERY good Christmas CD, one that you will play in the summer. 'Mary did you know' is awesome, and so are 'Hand of sweet release' and 'Go tell everyone.'

I have always loved the GVB music and this album was not a disappointment. There are so many great songs and the Gaither Vocal Band belts them out as they would a regular album. This is an album that can easily be listened to all year around. I highly recommend this album!

THIS IS A GOOD ALBUM, HOWEVER I THINK, BACK HOME IN INDIANA, TESTIFY, SOUTHERN CLASSICS II, LOVING GOD LOVING EACH OTHER WERE BETTER ALBUMS...THE HARMONY ON THIS ALBUM IS NOT AS GOOD...SOME OF THE VOICES ARE TOO PROMINENT, ESPECIALLY THE TENOR...SONG SELECTION IS VERY GOOD...I LIKED THE ALBUM OVERALL...IT IS JUST THAT SOME OF THE VOICES NEEDS TO BLEND BETTER...
