5.0 out of 5 stars Toronto-some old some new
The only negative to the Toronto DVD was the absence of David Phelps. Although I know he has gone on to pursue a career as a single, I don't think the Gaither Group is as good without him or that he is as good without the group. The Ernie Hasse group "Signature Sound" added a lot of spark and life to the entire cast. All in all it is well worth the bux.

1.0 out of 5 stars I like the videos that are more intimate, with the great songs
I did not like this video because the auditorium is huge and the stage is a circle, which means the performers have to keep going around the stage. The cameras on this one and on others in large auditoriums are so far back that you don't really get to see the performers as you do in the videos where they are held in small settings. I'm all for Bill being successful, but...

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!!!, March 11, 2006

This review is from: Gaither Homecoming Tour: Live from Toronto (DVD)
This DVD met every expectation of mine re: the Gaither tapes. Especially rewarding on this one was the showcasing of Wes Hampton's talent bringing him into the GVB as the newest member, replacing David Phelps (which no one can really replace). But Wes was and is excellent and I enjoyed this whole DVD. I highly recommend this for Gaither fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Annother Great Gaither Homecoming DVD, May 12, 2008
This review is from: Gaither Homecoming Tour: Live from Toronto (DVD)
I bought this DVD for my mother for her birthday. I have always enjoyed any of the Gaither Homecoming editions. This one was as special as the rest. I especially liked watching The Hoppers perform Jerusalem. She loved the dvd and so did I. Would purchase another.

I did not like this video because the auditorium is huge and the stage is a circle, which means the performers have to keep going around the stage. The cameras on this one and on others in large auditoriums are so far back that you don't really get to see the performers as you do in the videos where they are held in small settings. I'm all for Bill being successful, but it would be nice if the cameras would make an effort in these huge auditoriums to stay tight on the performer. I also did not find the songs on this video as traditional as those on other videos. I'm sorry I bought it. We watched it once and will not watch it again because he has videos that are so much more enjoyable to watch. I mentioned this to the woman at the Bible book store in Ft. Walton and she said several people had said they did not like this video.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful music and behind the scenes peek!, January 16, 2010
This review is from: Gaither Homecoming Tour: Live from Toronto (DVD)
Filmed in 2006 at the Toronto Air Canada Center, the setting is beautiful with a surround attractive black stage. However, this type of stage may work well with few entertains on board, but what we are frequently missing is the view of the Gathier Gospel group. Their presence is very important to the feel of the Homecoming Tour. Plus, we get a behind the scenes peek into the tour.

The singing is amazing, the comedy is always very good. Aside from Bill Gaither and Mark Lowry, some newer ones include Jeff Allen and Kevin Williams. The DVD features two bonus songs, one, a John Denver classic "Back Home Again" done by Woody Wright.

The highlights of this wonderful concert are to hear "Jerusalem" by the Hoppers and a new, to me, trio, The Booth Brothers singing "Testify" and "He Saw It All". I sincerely love their sound. Another beautiful song, with a country sound is done by Sheri and Jeff Easter, who discuss having expecting a baby in their later years. You can hear Larry Ford singing "Favorite Song Of All", The Best of Larry Ford and always special rousing piano medley "Shout to the Lord/Rhapsody in Blue" by Anthony Burger The Best of Anthony Burger. This was so memorable to see his dynamic piano style.

I especially enjoy when my favorites are included: Russ Taff "Trumpet of Jesus" The Best of Russ Taff and the wonderful voice of Lynda Randall The Best of Lynda Randle as she graces the stage with "Walk With Me, Lord". It is good to know that Ben Speer, one of the senior members was available to sing "Sheltered in the Arms of God".

A few other favorites, Gaither Vocal Band singing Kris Kristofferson song "Why Me"; Guy Penrod "Just a Little While"; Michael English performes with the Vocal Band "I Bowed On My Knees"; Joy Gardner "Healer in the House"; and a beautiful song by Jessy Dixon at the piano "Sanctuary"; and Ivan Parker "When I Get Carried Away" The Best of Ivan Parker.

I enjoy the Ernie Haase and Signature sound singing "Glory To God in the Highest" and "This Could Be the Dawning of that Day/Until Then".

If you like a bluegrass sound, listen to the Isaacs with a medly "Great is They Reward/Orange Blossom Special".

This is such an enjoyable concert, pleasing to the eyes and ears that features some new faces, more veteran members and just plain fun!......Rizzo

Wasn.t Michael English great???? I am so happy and thankful to God to see him singing and sounding just perfect. He is beautiful. It's true the stage was not the best. Ellen

I love the Homecoming series of Bill Gaither's. I have purchased quite a few of them and then have been given some as gifts also. I thing the Toronto Homecoming is a very good one to add to my collection. It was shipped on time, good condition and I would recommend this seller again.

I love this Homecoming video, esp. since I live in Western New York State and the Ontario landscapes are familiar. Terrific show.
