There are certain record labels that I pretty much buy anything they release, and BBE is one of them. This label consistently puts out quality music and Galactic Soul is no exception. This is one of those albums that makes me remember why I love music. It features some of my favorite artists like Cee-lo, Lizz Wright, John Legend, and a beautiful verse sung by my heart, Eric Robeson (Track 11, For Da Love of Da Game). Oh, and by the way, it features a fantastic track from the Elder of the Neo-soul movement, the Incomparable Roy Ayers, who is as smooth as a hot knife through butter. This CD's music is simply timeless soul music that will still by on point in twenty years. Ya'll, buy this album, I promise you, you won't be dissapointed.

I'm a fan of BBE's stuff and this complation seemed like a great album to pick up...especially because I wanted a CD quality version of DJ Jazzy Jeff's "For Da Love of Da Game (DJ Jazzy Jeff Remix)" that I previously could only find on vinyl.

DJ Spinna's is a dope Hip-Hop groove instrumental. Will.I.Am's "Swing By My Way features John Legend and takes things to a soulful summery feel. Jay Dee's remix of Four Tet's "As Serious As You Life" has a straight Hip-Hop vibe. Cee-Lo's "Living Again" has him sounding like a classic 70's soul artist until the chorus where he sound more in his usual element. Nadirah Shakoor "Touched My Soul" mashes up house music with soul beautifully. DJ Jazzy Jeff's "We Live In Philly" TV Track is essentially the instrumental but with some of Jill Scott's background adlibs and moans still in tack...not real vocals left on this. Ali Shaheed Muhhamad's "All Right" has a straight organic Hip-Hop sound w/ Sy Smith on the vocals. Dope track. DJ Jazzy Jeff's "For Da Love of Da Game (DJ Jazzy Jeff Remix)" takes the single off of his The Magnificent album but replaces the emcees with a camp of all star neo-soul artists singing about their love of music and performing. Amazing. The remainder of songs features a mix of Hip-Hop, R-N-B/Soul, and House music. Half of the artists I'm not very familiar with but this compilation will have me checking out some of their projects. This album should please all mature Hip-Hop heads, Neo-Soul fans and fans of House music.
