NOT Arcade Galaga,
By Jim Smith "Values Privacy" (West Chester, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Galaga (Jewel Case) (CD-ROM)
The write up on this game makes it sound like it is related to the classic arcade Galaga. Don't be fooled. This is an awful game, with poor, non-representative graphics, and bears absolutely no resemblance to the classic arcade game.

not the Galaga I know,

If you want the old Galaga, this isn't it!! I wish I had read these reviews before I bought it. As some others said, it starts out like the old arcade game but then it morphs into a 3-D type game that I found nearly impossible to navigate using the keyboard.

I purchased this game thinking it was similar to the arcade game. Boy was I fooled. Starts OK but the game is not at all like the classic arcade game.

Well, it starts out okay. Same feel as the original as Aliens spin down at you with all new graphics and sounds...and a few enhanced capabilities borrowed from Galaga arcade sequels such as Galaga 88 and Galaga 3....Even the next wave, which becomes a side scrolling version of galaga, which makes you feel like you're playing an enhanced version of the classic Defender is pretty cool...But THEN, you get to this first person view of space, with things flying at you left and right that quickly deplete your energy as you struggle uselessly with the joystick controls and try and kill the aliens swarming in front of you...the game becomes near impossible...and you can't even SAVE your progress and start at the same level...you get kicked back to the beginning...a friend and I were lucky enough to share the struggle by each playing a newer impossible board after another, and finally made it to the third level....but lost complete interest after that...just too complicated to be fun...they could have done SO much better...maybe they should have looked at Activision's simple yet awesome update of Space Invaders for hints on how to enhance yet retain the integrity of the original...this definitely DID NOT feel like Galaga...

Yes the game was transformed with the 3d process and yes it is nerly impossible to play with the keyboard.. Hummm reviewers have you ever heard of the word joystick ????
