Tales for pre-teens from animals' point of view,
This review is from: Galapagos Bedtime Stories (Hardcover)
This book is somewhat unusual in look and feel: printed in color on thicker, glossy clay-coated paper with many watercolor depictions of animals (who are also the protagonists of the tales). The text is white against a pale purple-blue background. Nice gift-book size, about 7" x 9", with good solid binding. Most of the tales are told from the animals' point of view, in language appropriate for older children or pre-teens and above, integrating accurate information about life cycle, habitat, feeding, etc. The stories, each from 9 to 14 pages long, are titled: "Wavy, the albatross the was afraid of heights"; "The meeting of the wisest"; "Galapagos cormorants do not fly because maybe once upon a time..."; "The Galapagos cowboy kid who cared for his home islands"; "One day in the life of a swallow-tailed gull"; "Rumina, the sea lion that counted Bartolome volcanoes every morning"; "Stefan little beak, the finch who wanted to meet Darwin"; "Verses about how some species colonized the Galapagos islands". Also with a Glossary.
