Not Really a Much of a Map,

I was going to the Galapagos and this was the best rated map listed on Amazon, so I bought it. This is not a map as much an overview of the Galapagos and because of its small size gives only a broad overview.
As far as a map goes I was disappointed. I was expecting a detailed topographic map and while it does show elevation by color shading I would have preferred contour lines. The map itself takes up about 25% of the pages, the remainder being devoted to history and wildlife. This map provide no more detail than what's available in other guide books. If you are going to the Galapagos, save your money and buy a map at the souvenir shops at the Baltra airport. If you a looking for a good overview of what to expect on the islands, try "Watching Wildlife Galapagos Islands" by Lonely Planet. I found "Birds, Mammals, and Reptiles of the Galapagos Islands Identification Guide", 2nd edition by Andy Swash and Rob Still to be the best for identification of wildlife.

If you plan to visit the islands as I did, I found this an excellent pre-read study and also very useful as a reference while there. It is succinct, informative and easy to read- a very useful little guide.

Everything You'll need and more!,

I purchased this map before a recent trip to the Galapagos Islands as a way to get a better idea as to where we were headed, what each island looked like, etc, and this map had it all and more. Lots and lots of information is provided on each island, its wildlife, topography, etc., almost enough to not need a guide book! Plus it was small and easy to carry with me, a good thing since I was limited to 40lbs of luggage! We also were not given any kind of map during our tour which I was expecting, so I was doubly glad to have it, especially since we didn't visit the islands in any specific order and even went to a few more than once, which left me completely turned around. They're farther apart than they look! The only drawback is the price. Wish it wasn't quite so expensive, but in the end, it was worth it.
