Galati six mag pouch - good find
on September 24, 2012
Well I originally purchased this pouch on Amazon when I was somewhat younger, but its terminally backordered - so had to order the same one somewhere else where it was in stock in the meantime - so I will review this one, its exactly the same item. First the good-- considering the cost of similar ones out there its a good value - generally well made of good heavy material tightly woven out of strong thick thread. You can fit two 30 round metal mags in each of the six pouches easily for a total of twelve mags, excellent-! but - If you have the Magpul Pmags six mags fit easily but the new material is stiff and if you want to get two per pouch you have to put the first one in base down and the second one in base up, one up one down. But thats still twelve 30 round mags in an easy to carry pouch. The shoulder strap has a removable wrap around velcro shoulder pad thats double sewn at its ends, and is also well made of the same heavy material as the pouch itself with heavy duty strap loops and D-rings at each corner and heavy duty strap attachment clips. The outer edges of the pouch are double sewn with a third stitch line 1/2 inch further inside that seems to be there to size the outer pouches. The inner pouches are a tight fit for two Pmags but again I think with some use and stretching it should be easier to get two Pmags in each pouch -- even if you only put one mag in the middle 2 pouches you still have ten mags ready to go. - Now the bad -- Again, for its price this is still one of the best values out there for a six mag pouch and will serve the purpose well-- but if I had to find fault with anything it would be the velcro pouch cover closures. Dont get me wrong, they work ok, but at just under an inch wide they seem a bit less heavy duty than the rest of the pouch. Would have been nice to have a bit wider Velcro, just my opinion - if one was inclined the flap attachments could be changed or modified with snaps but its not really necessary. All in all I would buy again as most anything better costs more. Dont be afraid to buy this one, its well worth the money. -- LATER REVIEW ADDITION - Well I finally received my second pouch after a one month+ back order, and much to my dismay it showed up without the strap. But, in all fairness I called Galati Gear in Missouri and the woman was extremely pleasant and helpful and said she would get the missing strap sent out ASAP. I dont blame galati as this one came from overseas and was shipped directly to Amazon. Im not happy about the long backorder, but Amazon upgraded me to free shipping and this item is extremely popular as are many gun related items. The main thing is Galati Gear is the kind of company that takes good care of its customers and you can't say that about many businesses these days. Go Galati Gear-!!
