This is a MANGA, aka Graphic Novel. Not a DVD. How the heck did Amazon get DVD? Nevertheless, this is an excellent MANGA, funny story, great art and good for fans of comedy, sci-fi and pretty girls. :)

Based on the popular anime series, this manga deals with the Galaxy Angel team in a slightly alternate storyline. There is an original video game which is seperate from the TV show.

The Angel Troupe are a team of five cute girls in the future who use special fighter craft to help protect the galaxy. They're made up of the incredibly lucky but dim Milfie, the sexy but superstitious Ranpha, the bunny-eared closet cosplayer Mint, soft-spoken healer Vanilla, and the gun-obsessed Forte.

While on vacation, the Angel Troupe gets called into escort the Prince Shiva to an area of space protected by the Moon Goddess. The goddess is an entity that in the storyline of the video games hand selected the Angel Troupe into action. So now, they're on their way in the prince's main ship, the Elle Ciel. Along for the ride, are the acting captain Takuto, who is just a young boy who is really smitten by the Angel Troupe, and Commander Meyers who is his advisor.

Along the way, they stop at a desert planet for supplies where they befriend that planet's prince, and the girls are mistaken for actual angels. Also, they make a sidequest to a hot springs resort so Ranpha can find her true love. Each volume is filled with tons of bonus material, usually taking up a good 1/5 of the book, including character bios, mini-comic strips, glossaries, translation notes, and more. It's just a funny as the anime, but with more of an ongoing plot to it.

This is definatly action/shojo, but it's really funny and entertaining. You'll love Lester and Takuto the 2 main guy characters they are SOOOOOOOOOOO hilrious!("Hey Lester i gotta pee...." "HOLD IT IN!" LOL) I havn't read this manga ina while though(I always read them at my friend's house) So i can't really tell u the story cuz i can't remember! Sorry! ^_^;

This is definetely one of the funniest mangas I've ever picked up. If you are expecting an intense sci-fi drama, then you should probably go find something different. This story would probably be a comedy, sci-fi, and even a little bit shojo.

Anyways, the story is about the Angel Troupe, a group of girls who take on missions to protect people, and various other stuff. One day they are hired to protect Prince Shiva, from the evil Eonia, who wants to kill Prince Shiva so he can become the king. (Shiva is the next heir to the throne.) So basically, the story is about them protecting Prince Shiva, and also about their other adventures.

If you love comedy, then I would definetly pick this book up. The art is also really good, different from anything I've ever seen before. Keep up the good work Kanan-san!

a few tiny translation flaws (or so i believe) but i like it and really look forward to reading the next many volumes of galaxy angel^^

The Transbaal Kingdom is an empire that has ruled over 128 planetary systems for the past 300 years. But civil war breaks out when Prince Eonia assassinates his uncle the king and sets out to hunt down the heir to the throne, Prince Shiva, destroying all who get in his way. A commander of a local patrol fleet, Takuto, is given the task of escorting the prince to a safe haven. He will be accompanied by the prince's bodyguards, the Galaxy Angels! Mint is pretty much the brains of the outfit, and while seeming reserved, her mind is always scheming behind the scenes. Forte is the gun otaku of the group who would rather sleep with a pistol than a man. Ranpha is the ladylike tomboy of the group who likes to fight but also likes to fall in love. Vanilla is an existentialist religious dogmatist who counters the always cheerful Milfeulle, the ditzy cooking afficiando who is blessed with extraordinary luck. While equipped with powerful "Lost Technology" the girls will have to use all their skills to deliver Prince Shiva to the Moon Goddess.

Galaxy Angel Volume 1 was a bit of a change from the anime version. Whereas the show is episodic and straight comedy, the manga version follows the story arc of the escorting of the Prince. This volume has some pretty serious issues involving the killing of families and loneliness. The comedy mainly comes in adventures they have along the way. But the problem is that the comedy is not that funny. It is not helped by Kanan's drawing style which ranges from good to awfully amateurish sketch-like drawings. The panels at times also grow too cluttered. While I liked the at times more serious take on Galaxy Angel, the artwork and unhumorous comedy really doomed it to the realm of average overall. I would recommend the anime instead of the manga.
