Either it is defective or it just plain sucks. I bought this and the 3 in 1 green laser pointer for a party. The 3 in 1 is very bright, this one is barely noticeable, even after brand new batteries. Stay away from this one.

This is a really nice laser pointer. I especially like the patterns it can display. Children love the effects (of course, you NEVER point it in someone's eyes). Easy to use and well made. Just be sure to insert batteries in the correct direction. Nice carry case too. Price is quite reasonable.
