Product Description

This gorgeous Arts and Crafts style Bulova mantel clock is based on the design for the 'Mrs. Laura Gale House' in Oak Park, Illinois. Geometric fretwork has been laser-cut from solid wood and wood veneers, finished in Old World walnut. Minimalist face and hands add a contemporary touch while a geometric wood pendulum helps accuracy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Clock, but eats batteries for breakfast!, January 28, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Gale Bookcase 16 1/4" High Bulova Mantel Clock (Kitchen)
I got this as a wedding gift for a friend. It's a beautiful clock. What does not appear well in the pictures is that the back plate of glass is a darker smoke color.

Every time I go to his house it has the wrong time! He says it eats batteries for breakfast. The movement takes too much energy to power. If I remember correctly, it uses only one AA battery, but needs a C or D cell to make it a full year. Form over function...Frank Lloyd Wright would not be pleased. My friend is thinking about going to radio shack and getting a D battery terminal and wiring leads through the back to the internal battery terminals for added oomph.

I'm a bit disappointed.
