Best Baby Guide Ever!,
This review is from: The Gallagher Guide to the Baby Years, 2005 Edition: The Real Moms' Survey of Top-Rated Products and Advice (Paperback)
I happened to receive the first guide (published in small quantities) as a giveaway and loved it. When I saw that a second version was coming out I jumped all over it!!!
This book has been such a wonderful reference book for me through pregnancy, childbirth, infanthood, and now into toddlerhood! I use it all the time and have pages dogeared for reference! The advice of hundreds of moms just like me is invaluable, you get a good cross section of reviews and can choose a solution that works for you. I recommend anyone pregnant, with an infant or toddler get this book NOW!

great compiled advice,
This review is from: The Gallagher Guide to the Baby Years, 2005 Edition: The Real Moms' Survey of Top-Rated Products and Advice (Paperback)
I am usually pretty skeptical of "advice books," but this one has a huge advantage. It is the pooled wisdom of moms all over the country, with all ages of kids. The editor compiles all the responses into Top 10 lists, which I found really helpful, and then adds individual quotes from moms. There is lots of really clever advice, and good reviews of some of the mountains of baby products out there. This is a great gift for a mom-to-be.

User-Friendly Guide -- Must-Have for New Moms,

This review is from: The Gallagher Guide to the Baby Years, 2005 Edition: The Real Moms' Survey of Top-Rated Products and Advice (Paperback)
When you trade in your DINK status for a new-mom status, you cannot be without this guide. It is easy to use, practical, and offers loads of testimonials from moms who have been there, done that. I can't think of a more useful resource for new parents who are wading through the thicket of the early days. Its format is reminiscent of a travel guide, only its purpose is to offer you a roadmap through the confusing consumer chasm that baby superstores can be. Get this book before you need it -- you'll be glad you did!

Gallagher Guide ............... Molly's Reviews,
By molly martin (oklahoma usa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Gallagher Guide to the Baby Years, 2005 Edition: The Real Moms' Survey of Top-Rated Products and Advice (Paperback)
Editor Gallagher has produced a book using contributions from real moms and meant to be used by real moms. From start to finish the new mom is offered suggestions on everything from which type of formula is best and why individual women prefer one over the other to what features to look for in a stroller. Moms who have faced late night diaper changes suggest one piece pajamas with zippers rather than cute footed garments that are hard to put on and take off. Women who have faced sleep deprivation during the first weeks following the birth of their baby offer good sound advice to new moms concerning the importance for baby AND mom to get enough sleep. Each hint is presented in clear, concise language and in type large enough to read easily. Chapters are filled with short easily read hints new moms can read while nursing or bottle feeding their new baby, while waiting for the train to pass by or the light to change. Format is sensible; few new mothers have time to plow through pages and pages of tiny print.

Top Notch Reference Book for Moms,
By
This review is from: The Gallagher Guide to the Baby Years, 2005 Edition: The Real Moms' Survey of Top-Rated Products and Advice (Paperback)
This book has loads of helpful advice from real moms. It is so easy to access just what you need in minutes. This isn't just for moms of babies-it's for moms (and even dads) of older kids too. I gave a copy to a friend who said-"The author's a genius!"

Nothing Special,
This review is from: The Gallagher Guide to the Baby Years, 2005 Edition: The Real Moms' Survey of Top-Rated Products and Advice (Paperback)
Although the title tells you just what to expect, it's nothing special for the price. You could get the same thing that this book offers by asking your questions at any online parenting board.
Personally, I like to make sure that the people I ask advice from have the same philosophy of parenting. If I'm really in a jam, then I go to trusted experts. I suppose my main problem with this book is that it is so unfocused. |
