Book Description

Adventure, danger, and timeless love--Gallagher's Pride is the first in a series about a frontier family's legacy, healing old wounds, and fighting for the land they love.

Book One of the Montana Gallagher Series
Gallagher's Pride

She was a on a quest of discovery. He was on a quest for revenge. Together they would discover a second chance.

Brenna Cameron travels from Scotland after losing someone she loves in search of family she didn't know existed. Alone now in the world, Brenna makes an arduous journey, following the trail of discovery to Briarwood, Montana. Here she meets Ethan Gallagher, and the rest of
the Gallagher clan. Only with their help is she able to discover lost family, heal old wounds and embark on a treacherous confrontation with a man who destroyed her family.

As head of the Gallagher clan, Ethan has more than enough to occupy his thoughts and time-he didn't need the complication of Brenna Cameron and he certainly didn't need the trouble that came with her. Ethan takes on the unwanted duty of self-appointed protector to the headstrong Scot, only to discover there is such a thing as second chances and more to life than revenge.

From the Scottish Highlands to the Montana frontier, experience the first book in a series about a family in search of peace, hope, and love on a wild land.

Editorial Reviews

"The Montana Gallagher Collection is adventurous and romantic with scenes that transport you into the wild west." - InD'Tale Magazine

From the Author

Dearest Reader,

It so happens that in this story you will meet my favorite character. Playing favorites with characters is akin to a parent choosing a favorite child, but Ethan's worth it. He's everything I love in a hero--down to his sometimes brooding and stubborn personality. Brenna is one tough Scottish lady, unafraid to embark on a journey not knowing what will be on the other side of the ocean. I couldn't have asked for a better partner for Ethan. I love the Gallagher family, so much so that I had to continue their stories and their journey. I do hope you enjoy spending time with them as much as I have.

Happy Reading,

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Historical Romance! March 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Ethan Gallagher is a 6'4" cowboy with striking blue eyes and dark hair that curls around his ears. Swoon worthy? Yup. He's a cowboy who is the defender of women's honor and not afraid to slam someone in the mouth with his fist for impugning said honor. Sigh worthy? Totally. He's also a cowboy who is willing to put his life on the line for the woman he loves. Did I mention he's a cowboy?
I loved every word of this book! McClintock does a masterful job of sucking the reader in, making them hang in there and keep turning those pages. I could really sense that MK is very familiar with Montana as she lovingly described it's beauty in great detail. I also really enjoyed the fact that she sets the story in beautiful Scotland, invoking the reader to really connect with the land and landscapes. The story isn't predictable and the characters, while flawed enough that you want to reach through the pages and smack them upside the head when they're being idiots, are also believable.
I started and finished this book in the same day, that's how much I enjoyed reading it. It was thoroughly entertaining and McClintock really pulled me into the western era. I highly recommend this if you like romances, and even if you don't! It's worth the cheap price and I know I will be waiting anxiously for the next installments from the Gallaghers!

4.0 out of 5 stars An Easy Read March 16, 2012
By Megan
Format:Kindle Edition
I read this book in one night and thought it was very enjoyable. I was drawn into the story immediately and found it to be very detailed, but not too much to make it annoying. I could picture the setting of each location perfectly in my mind.

Brenna was such a likable character. I felt so bad for all the sorrow she had gone through and wanted to see things turn around for her. Ethan on the other hand I didn't like much at the beginning and at the end of the story I liked him even less. However, I really liked Ethan's brother, Gabriel, and his sister, Eliza.

I thought that some parts of the story seemed a bit of a stretch, like when Brenna leaves Scotland to go to America. I can't believe that she would go all that way by herself when she obviously had enough money to have hired a traveling companion. Women in those days seemed to take great care to keep their reputations unsoiled and by traveling alone, that more than likely would have happened - regardless of whether anything happened to her or not.

For people who are easily offended by cursing, I want to make sure that they know that this book does have some of that in it. I personally don't care for books that have too much of it - I honestly prefer that there be none, but I can understand it being used if it is in context, not just thrown in every other sentence. This book only seemed to use it once in a while, which to me was okay - not the greatest but I can tolerate that.

Towards the end, the story seemed very rushed and a bit chaotic. Even so, I still want to read the next book in the series, especially since it is about Gabriel. I would recommend Gallagher's Pride, but only to those who don't mind a bit of mild language in the books they read.

***I received a complimentary copy of this book to review. I was asked to give my honest opinion of it - which I have done.***

Gallagher's Pride (Book One of the Gallagher Series)
by MK McClintock
Genre: historical romance
Published July 11th 2012 by Trappers Peak Publishing
Locations: Scotland & Montana Territory
Timeframe: 1882-1883

A family legacy built on a wild land. A struggle for justice, love and survival. (from the cover)

Brenna Cameron has grown up confident and secure in her parents' love. After her mother died, Brenna and her father were left without any other family...or so Brenna was told. Her father, on his deathbed, whispered to her that she wasn't alone, there was someone else.

"His breathing became more shallow. 'Yer mother and I agreed not to tell ye, but now I'm thinking that we did ye wrong lass. We never thought wouldna be here to protect you.' He took another labored breath and in a voice barely above a whisper said, 'Your grandfather lives. He's an unkind man Brenna and he....but ye're not alone in the world me darling girl'."

Brenna leaves her home and her friends in Scotland to find answers to the questions that she is now living with. Since her father has left her financially independent, she is able to hire a private detective to look for her grandfather. The result of those inquiries is that Brenna travels from Scotland to the American West.

"It seemed almost impossible that Brenna now stood in the middle of a dusty street on a brisk autumn morning thousands of miles from everything she knew and treasured. Almost impossible, but not quite, for there she stood in the town of Briarwood in Montana Territory.
