Book Description

July 15, 2009
It's an art gallery for your desktop, selected from the more than 2 million masterpieces in the world-class collection of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. Cézanne's Still Life with Apples and a Pot of Primroses. The Unicorn Tapestries. The landscape paintings of Wang Hui. Plus Japanese woodblock prints, African masks, musical instruments, and the chic "Mondrian" day dress by Yves Saint Laurent. Art mirrors the museum's vast scope, ranging from ancient to contemporary works; covering Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas; and encompassing painting, sculpture, photography, decorative arts, and more. Each full-color image is beautifully photographed and reproduced to the standards of a fine art book. For art lovers, it’s a thrilling journey.

3.0 out of 5 stars Won't Be Buying the 2011 Calendar, October 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Art Gallery Calendar 2010 (Calendar)
Well, it's time to think about my 2011 calendar, but I can assure you I won't be buying another of these. I've bought these for 3 years now. Actually, my first, was the 2008 page-a-day National Gallery of Art calendar, not a Metropolitan Museum of Art calendar. I loved that one and looked forward each morning to seeing what new image would grace my desktop each day. The second (2009) and third (2010) of these Met calendars have been disappointing in that there are too many images of items I don't even consider "art." On my calendar today, I am looking at a photographic image of a spur. As in giddyup go. This calendar has been little more than a collection of boring, unstimulating images. It's a real disappointment to me because there is so much potential for a calendar of this type but I fear that after a rehash of the same old boring for the second year in a row, I'm going to have to find a different calendar to purchase. Met, you've got to do better!

2.0 out of 5 stars Too many boring images, April 4, 2010
By
This review is from: Art Gallery Calendar 2010 (Calendar)
Very boring. From the cover image I expected a year of beautiful, impressionistic paintings. Instead, as another earlier reviewer ably mentioned, it seems the majority are photos of pottery, textiles, woodcuts, and other really uninspiring images. Really disappointing that I have to go through the entire year with so many really boring photos.

2.0 out of 5 stars 2010 Met Calendar is a flop, November 11, 2010
This review is from: Art Gallery Calendar 2010 (Calendar)
I fully agree with those who find this year Met Art calender boring. What I find most ridiculous is that the least interesting art pieces are offered for a loooooong weekend display. I am so disappointed with 2010 calender that I rarely look at it now. I believe it was a flop and I'm in great doubt about buying new 2011 Met calendar.
