5.0 out of 5 stars Paul and Carl are outstanding, September 13, 2003

This CD shows Paul McKee's talent and ability to play, even though his present status is beyond this CD. My favorit song is Alone Together with Carl Fontana. The two trombones start the song with just the bass and build and build throughout the solos making for an amazing song that keeps you wanting more. The next fav has got to be How Deep Is the Ocean, just because it's Paul playing solo and really showing his style of music.

Paul McKee is a superb player and arranger and this CD shows off both skills. He has a warm sound, smooth style and melodic, inventive solos.
I've seen Paul live several times including with John Fedchock. This disk captures the sound and feel very well. I must say that I liked Paul's plaing better than John's.
Another reason to buy this CD is the great Carl Fontana. Carl and Paul lay down some hot duets and since Carl hasn't been recorded nearly enough, anything he's on is worth buying.
I don't get to hear Paul live often enough so this CD helps fill the gap. I recomend it without hesitation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing talahassee post-grunge indie rock, September 20, 2008
By
I don't know who the other reviewers are talking about but Nel Aspinal was Curt McNeil, Chad Larid and Tommy Hamilton.

This follow-up to their debut (A Romans Map to Heaven) is an amazing and deeply textured album of classic indie/lo-fi rock tunes. Curt and Chad will move you with their nostalgic and beautiful harmonies and lyrics and Tommy is at the top of his game punctuating it all with great grooves and a great mix.

Album highlights include the sweet and soulful Captiol Pink and the legubriau, moving Marianas Trench as well as the dark and moving Funeral Song (I+II)series.

If you like melodic and nostalgic indie rock do yourself a favor and pick this up.
