As a Certified Professional Resume Writer, I am always keen to keep abreast of new trends in the job-search industry. David F. Noble's Gallery of Best Resumes for People Without a Four-Year Degree is an excellent resource for both professionals like myself and the serious job hunter who needs direction on how to handle the specialized requirements of people who chose training that took less than four years to complete. These people encompass a vast range of occupations from healthcare, paralegals, military, sales & marketing - and a host of others. The book is well laid out and provides extensive, easy to read information for the person embarking upon the difficult task of putting pen to paper. It touches upon writing tips, job search strategies, grammar, spelling, design and layouts. "The Gallery" ventures into Part 2 of the book. Resume samples produced for "real life" people by leading professional resume writers, are grouped in categories. At the end of each resume, notes regarding style, margins, font use and reasons behind the layout and wording selection are provided. While you won't find 50 examples of your particular job discipline, you will find a range of styles, approaches and formats that will appeal to you, and that you'll be easily able to adapt to your own particular situation. Looking at the examples (over 200) you should be able to learn the art of communicating your strengths in a variety of ways. Cover letters, a vital part of a application process have not been forgotten. Towards the conclusion, the author provides excellent assistance in helping you produce a cover letter that speaks volumes of your ambition and strengths. 30 samples are included from cold approaches, networking and responses to newspaper advertisements - once again, allowing you to choose the type of approach that fits your situation comfortably. The Contents page is a vast improvement over the previous offering "Gallery of Best Resumes", now ensuring quick and easy location of the samples needed. All in all, a solid informational resource mirroring up to the minute trends, that I can highly recommend. A must for the job seeker's bookshelf.
