4.0 out of 5 stars Cooks well February 16, 2013

It is a very attractive and does an excellent job of cooking. One of the top burners is dedicated to a quick boil and lives up to its reputation.... I'd say about twice as fast as the range it replaced.

This is the first convection oven I've used and once I get the hang of it, it will be great. It appears to be cooking food faster and with lower temps than the directions suggest. Have a bit of a weakness for tater tots and this oven gets them crispy on the outside and perfect on the it would do the same for french fries.

Only one small complaint..... After just a few uses there are stains between the glass panels that will require taking the glass unit apart to clean it properly. How many times do you want to have to do that? As for cleaning the top, I have but a few words to say.... Mr. Clean Magic eraser.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice range January 4, 2014
I bought this range from a local supplier, not Amazon. I love Amazon, but I got a really good deal locally. Anyway, this range is light years beyond the range it replaced. To be honest, that's not saying much: I hated the range it replaced. But even compared to all the other ranges I've ever had, this Frigidaire Gallery is the best. I especially like the cook top burners. They have an amazing range, from searing hot (great for stir-frying and boiling large pots of water) to barely warm (great for melting chocolate -- without a double boiler). I love it!

As far as the oven goes, it offers more versatility than I've ever had before as well. I've never had a convection feature before, and it really makes a difference. For most things it's a plus but for some it's either a minus or I haven't figured out how to optimize things yet. The nice part is the convection feature is an option, not required, so I have time to figure it out. And the non-convection alternative seems to work perfectly fine; i.e., I have found no obvious hot spots or cool spots when using it.

The food probe is terrific, and and apparently more accurate than the manual meat thermometer I've used for years. And it's automatic -- the oven shuts off (or, alternatively, automatically goes to "warm" (180 deg)) when the probe temp is reached. I also like the delayed start feature as well as the timed bake with (optional) go-to-warm feature. Suddenly it's possible to put an actual meal on the table without having to be there every step of the way. I don't know if the split rack is included in the Amazon offering, but it came in handy this past Thanksgiving. It lets you sit a tall turkey on one side of the oven and a variety of casserole sides on both tiers of racks on the other.

PROS: I purchase many items from Amazon, but we bought the range from a local brick and mortar because I wanted to visually assess the design. We have used it for one week. So far I have been pleased with the way the burners and oven have functioned. We have not used the broiler or self-cleaning feature yet. It has a great variety of burners and they all simmer down very nicely.
CONS: I like the appearance of the cast iron burner grates. However, in my aesthetic assessment, I missed a functional problem. The side grates may be too thin (or may be warped) for them to bridge the distance from front to back without a center support. The the grates sag 3/32nds of an inch in the middle of the grate along their unsupported edge (with nothing on them). Because of they are curved, this is not apparent unless you place a straightedge from front to back on the grate top surface. I find this to be a design flaw. Even with stove-top perfectly level, no matter which burner I use, my skillet oil runs toward the center of the stove top. To me it goes beyond annoying because it requires more oil to cover the pan bottom. This makes food less healthy and more expensive. I intend to ask for replacement grates, but I am not confident that new ones will be better. If replacements solve the problem, I will edit this review accordingly.
