I was a little dissappointed with Gallery. The songs are well written, but feel more repetitive and tired. The riffs are still awesome and the lyrics are still great, but it's not as refined as Vile or Bloodthirst. If you're a CC fan, you'll still eat this one up though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Cannibal Album!, April 5, 2005
This review is from: Gallery of Suicide (Audio CD)
This is my favorite Cannibal Corpse album. Even though it dosent feature the best song they have ever (re)made, "No Remorse".

This album is a blast to listen to, it will, without a doubt, get a mosh pit flowing. It has great guitars and amazing vocals. Good blast beats all around, and very intertaining artwork on the cover. Words cant descirbe how I feel about this album. Cannibal Corpse will continue to be the Death Metal masters, and one of my favorite bands!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the best, January 10, 2000

Cannibal Corpse is a hellraiser band that rips it up with no comparison but Exhumed and Today Is The Day. Corpsegrinder rumbles with fury and the guitars shred your mind to pieces. Keep the rage alive and buy this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best album in years!, October 6, 1998

After Barrett went back to Malevolent Creation, they acquired Pat O'Brien on guitar. I must say he's a more than adequate replacement after seeing them live recently. This album is some of the most technical playing they've done in a long time and great production by Jim Morris. Personally I think he does a better job with CC than Scott Barnes ever did. The album does suffer from lazy drumming on most of the tracks, but the guitar work makes up for it, especially on tracks "Headless" and "Blood Drenched Execution". A must have if you're a fan of death metal!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Gallery of Suicide (Audio CD)
"Gallery of Suicide" by Cannibal Corpse, I believe, is their finest work so far. The production couldn't be clearer (as far as death metal goes anyway) and the songs couldn't have been any more brutal. If you do not like violent lyrical topics, distorted guitars, and blast beats on the drums, then I don't think you would ever buy a CD by a band called Cannibal Corpse, anyway, so I don't really understand the people who give this bad reviews for being what it is. It's like, if I am a fan of music like Celine Dion and Jewel and Michael Bolton, I would never pick up a copy of a CD called "Gallery of Suicide" or anything by a band with as much gall as to call themselves Cannibal Corpse. Oh well...
Besides the concert staples like "I Will Kill You" and the title track, I like "Sentenced to Burn" and "Unite the Dead" as stand out tracks. The whole CD is solid and enjoyable, though, especially if someone new to Cannibal Corpse just happens to be in the truck when I pop it in. Not everyone likes it, but it sure does get a reaction every time. Sometimes I just want to listen to a metal band that is still thought of as abrasive. Remeber when Metallica was that way?

I try not to let the ridiculous people who slam Cannibal on here ever get to me ... BUT, come on. If I hate something, I don't waste my time reviewing it. What's the point? All right, deep down inside I'm sure we'd all like to give hateful reviews to music like, Michael Bolton, Slipsnot, Kornhole, and so on. This always reminds me of people who go after Gwar. I have to ask these people: do you really think when the guys in Cannibal sit down to write lyrics, they actually think, "Well, with luck maybe one person will read these words and violate some dead nuns and hack their entire family to death." I hate to label Cannibal, but they could also be described as 'horror' metal. And musically, I'd love to see a lot of these STUPID bands that you see on Jay Leno and whatever other idiot's on television, try and actually play a CC song. Don't even tell me someone like the bass player from Korn can master Alex Webster's licks. No way.
As far as Gallery of Suicide goes? Flawless. I gave this one 5 stars because it really hit me as hard as Butchered At Birth. In terms of the lyrics and visualizing the horror of what's being sung about, these tunes will freak you out.
And if any CC fan reading this hasn't gotten, Wretched Spawn, yet, don't kill time: it's a masterpiece. Cannibal is in the studio right now working on the next slab of gruesome metal. Can't wait.
Necrosoul.

I've been a Cannibal Corpse fan for quite a while and I can never get enough of their brutal Death Metal sound and lyrics. When I first found "Gallery Of Suicide" at a local record store I had no clue who Cannibal Corpse was but its cool album artwork convinced me to buy it, that was my first exposure to Cannibal Corpse. George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher (in my opinion) is a better vocalist for Cannibal Corpse and it really shows on this album (sorry Chris). Even though "Gallery Of Suicide" is longer than their previous album "Vile" it still serves a relentless beating to your ear drums with blazing guitar riffs, fast-paced drum assaults, Alex's amazing bass playing, and a relentless vocal assault to top it all off. This album and "Vile" are my all-time favorite Cannibal Corpse albums out of all the stuff they ever recorded. The "Unite The Dead" song that Alex Webster came up with has some of the sickest lyrics I've ever heard on any Cannibal Corpse album.

WARNING: "Gallery of Suicide" is not for the faint of heart or those who cant stomach lyrics about blood and gore.

But if you are a Cannibal Corpse fan or even a fan of the Death Metal genre this is a must have for any collection.

CANNIBAL CORPSE RULES!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars the best cannibal corpse album, June 8, 2006
This review is from: Gallery of Suicide (Audio CD)
First off, for the one reviewer two below me I think he was ("the real deal lyfe lyne") that ripped on this band and said they had no talent and do nothing but growl or whatever, I was like wow if he doesn't think the ridiculous amount of shredding and technicality (that is often overlooked in this band cuz all people pay attention to is the lyrics and imagery) in this band is impressive, he must like some REALLY good metal! So, I went on his other reviews and saw he had given 5 stars to the three six mafia and various other rap cds. Haha! He's impressed by rappers who don't even do anything worthy of being called MUSIC but yet Cannibal Corpse is [...]? What a loser.

But anyway, onto the album. This in my opinion is the best Cannibal Corpse record. Every song musically and lyrically on this record is genius. This and Bloodthirst are the last 2 CC albums where you can tell Jack Owen was still trying to write good songs. Gore Obsessed should have been called "Bore Fest", and while The Wretched Spawn was way way better, the songs that were written by Jack Owen just continued to get worse. George Fisher not only sounds brutal on this album but evil as well. Nowadays, CC concentrates more on being brutal and technical which is awesome and all, but no attention to being evil or having that atmosphere that is best captured on this release.

Standout tracks on this record: 1, 4, 7 (an instrumental that best describes that atmosphere Im speaking of), 8, and 13. All the songs are good though. If you're just getting into CC, make this your first purchase with possibly Bloodthirst or the Bleeding being next in line.

5.0 out of 5 stars This album is Brutal, September 22, 2003

This review is from: Gallery of Suicide (Audio CD)
Cannibal Corpse is an amazing band, but you all know that already. Anyway, got the album today, Gallery of Suicide, I was completly blown away. Until today I thought Chris Barnes had a cooler voice than CorpseGrinder...How wrong I was, CorpseGrinder seems to crush your spine into the concrete every time he growls. Stand out tracks on this album are "I Will Kill You", its the first song, and sets the tone for the brutality that is to come. "Sentenced to Burn" is like a screwdriver ripping your eyes out, it pounds you into your chair. "Gallery of Suicide" starts out slow, then explodes into hyper speed, I think its my fav song on the album. The instrumental "From Skin to Liquid" is so damn heavy...its such an Evil rythem, its amazing...All I can say is, go for the neck, buy this album as soon as you can.
