This review is from: The Gallo-Roman Town of Glanum: Scale Architectual Paper Model (Paperback)
Based on the excavated remains of a real Roman town in France, this cut-out model is to scale 1/200 and consists of 520 pieces on 30 sheets of 30cm x 22cm card. The finished model has a base area of 44cm x 84cm and is 15cm high. The book begins with a history and description of the ruins, in English and a number of other languages, together with photographs and historical engravings of the site. This is followed by construction notes on each building with plenty of illustrations. The buildings include a triumphal arch, mausoleum,a number of houses, baths with removeable roof, basilica, forum and temples. Some of the parts are small and difficult to form into shape, although the main buildings are a reasonable size to work with. The model is for experienced card workers rather than children. |
