5.0 out of 5 stars Zen Water Filter
I purchased the Zen Water Filtration system about two weeks. I had been using a faucet based Pur filter, which kept leaking as splashing water everywhere. I choose this type of system because of the alkaline aspects of it. Water with Alkaline provides antioxidants, and helps to raise the pH levels, which is good for a lot of health conditions.

3.0 out of 5 stars Want to give it 5 stars but...
I bought the 4-gallon model. I live in an area where the tap water is OK, but sometimes has a funny taste. Tired of paying through the nose for bottled water delivery and not wanting to have to haul bottles of water home from the store, we decided to give this a try. It does a great job of filtering the water. It takes awhile to filter because it has to trickle...

5.0 out of 5 stars Zen Water Filter,
This review is from: 4 Gallon Countertop Water Filter - Transform Tap Water to Premium Alkaline Mineral Drinking Water (Kitchen)I purchased the Zen Water Filtration system about two weeks. I had been using a faucet based Pur filter, which kept leaking as splashing water everywhere. I choose this type of system because of the alkaline aspects of it. Water with Alkaline provides antioxidants, and helps to raise the pH levels, which is good for a lot of health conditions.
The Zen Water system arrived within a few days of ordering it. My order included both the 4 gallon dispenser and countertop models.
I was able to set the countertop model up with about 20 minutes, after reading the cryptic documentation. However, a picture is worth a thousand words, and based on the picture, I was able to set it up.
When I opened the box, I was surprised to discover that both items were in the same box, so I had to sort through the contents very carefully.
Needless to say, it is now sitting on my countertop. It took about 20 minutes before I could see some water coming into the dispensing chamber. When it was about 1 quarter full, I tried tasting the water, and I have to admit, I was not impressed. However, I waited until the chamber was completely full, and it tasted very good. The water has a very smooth taste and I don't taste any powder or residue from going through the filtration process or that I experienced using the Pur water filter.
I tried comparing the water taste with water from several other systems: from my faucet, Brita and Pur water filters. The Zen Water system tasted significantly different. The water from my faucet made me think that I was drinking pure chlorine, the water from the Brita and Pur filter tastes like there was chauky it, but the water from the Zen Water Filtration system had no odor, and was very easy to drink.
I intend on buying a few stainless steel water bottles so that I can replace the Brita filter that I was using at work.
I compared this water filter with the Santevia system, which cost $200. They both use the same filtering methodology. The Santevia does mention that it is BPA free (for those who don't know, that means that the plastic will not bleed into your drinking water, which occurs when using plastic bottles). I have compared the taste of the Santevia with the Zen filter and the tastes are very similar. The overall construction of the parts seems relatively the same. So for me it made more sense to purchase this model.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazon Ethical Challenge,
This review is from: Zen Water Systems Countertop Filtration and Purification System, 6-Gallon (Kitchen)If you decide to buy the Zen Water Filtration System, Please make sure you buy the replacement filters from ZenWater @zenwateronline.com or make sure you are buying the originals from Amazon. There are after market filters that are made by other companies and they simply do not work as well as the ones made by Zen Water. On Amazon, when you search for replacement Filters, it brings up one that really appears to be made by Zen Water. In fact, when you search for the Mineral Rocks, this is exactly what turns up,
Mineral Stone Case Replacement for Zen Water Filter Systems
by Zen Water Online
If you notice the description clearly says " by Zen Water Online" and it is really made by Purenex. In very tiny letters, Amazon has s place to click for "other sellers" and that is where you will find the one really made by Zen Water (which is $5 Less). The fact that the product description is misleading and possibly fraudelant is not the only problem, according to the reviews I have read (over 25), the filter made by Purenex is simply not the same quality as the one made by Zen Water. Please be careful when you buy this excellent Filter. The only complaints I found about this water filtration system were due to people mistakenly buying this filter.
I buy and will continue to buy many items from Amazon and this is the first ethical lapse I personally have encoutered and I hope Amazon reverts back to keeping its very high ethical standards.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tastes great, huge value,
This review is from: 4 Gallon Countertop Water Filter - Transform Tap Water to Premium Alkaline Mineral Drinking Water (Kitchen)I got the 4 gallon model. That's plenty for our family of 2 adults and 2 children under 2. I got this to raise the pH of the water and because I was sick of bleaching algae out of my Brita countertop filter every month.
-It is not tasteless like many claim, but clean and crisp. It tastes just like the "minerals added for taste" bottled waters. If you want to know what I'm talking about, buy a bottle of Dasani or SmartWater and test it against something tasteless like Fuji or distilled. If you prefer the tasteless variety, order the mineral-free filter from their website.
-The water tastes so good I drink more without even realizing it.
-pH was the same immediately after filtering the night I set it up. The next morning, it had raised .2. In the afternoon, it was another .2 higher. The longer the water is in contact with the mineral stones, the higher the pH. This does seem to be a slow process though. I wish it alkalized faster, as we have acid tap water.
-It can be used with or without the base.
-The tap lever can be pushed back to dispense like a fountain drink dispenser, or flipped up to stay open.
-The magnetic tap that comes with the 4-gallon model is actually the nut that holds the tap on. It's longer than the regular one and doesn't leave room for the mineral stone case to sit neatly in the ring made for it. However, you can scatter the stones on the bottom, which actually looks nicer.
-The bottom tank is 3 gallons and the top tank is 1 gallon. (See website for tank sizes)
-Instructions say not to overfill, so I only fill top tank when bottom tank is one-third empty. It does take a while to filter but since it can hold so much it's not so bad.
-Initial setup takes some time. The minerals stones need to be removed from plastic case, rinsed, boiled, and dried. The ceramic dome needs be be soaked and scrubbed. The filter needs water run through it until it comes out clear. The tanks need to be washed. Then you gotta put everything together.
But after that first setup, you just have to maintain different parts separately, and that doesn't take as long.
-Instructions are clear and simple.
-Ceramic dome needs to soaked and scrubbed every few weeks or when filter process slows down. It should be replaced every 1 year or 1000 gallons.
-Filter needs no maintenance but needs replacing every 6 months or 500 gallons.
-Mineral stones should be boiled every 6 months, and replaced after 3-5 years or when worn down. They should still work but they'll be less effective because of less surface area.
-Tanks should be washed every 3 months or as needed.
You CAN NOT get genuine parts from Amazon. Believe me, I've tried. They're all sold by Purenex which makes cheap counterfeits. Even if it says it's by Zen Water Online, it's not sold by them. Go to their website and get genuine parts.

3.0 out of 5 stars Want to give it 5 stars but...,
This review is from: 4 Gallon Countertop Water Filter - Transform Tap Water to Premium Alkaline Mineral Drinking Water (Kitchen)I bought the 4-gallon model. I live in an area where the tap water is OK, but sometimes has a funny taste. Tired of paying through the nose for bottled water delivery and not wanting to have to haul bottles of water home from the store, we decided to give this a try. It does a great job of filtering the water. It takes awhile to filter because it has to trickle s-l-o-w-l-y into the bottom tank through the stone filter and the 5-stage filter. That being said, it's worth the wait for great tasting water. The reason I didn't give this unit 5 stars is that when my unit arrived, the top tank had a crack that went from top to bottom. It's made of cheap plastic and I don't see this lasting more than 6-12 months. They could have used a better grade of plastic and charged a bit more, instead of going cheap on this important detail. Better yet, a glass tank would ensure that it would be dishwasher safe and could not harbor bacteria. The top tank seems to be made from a different type of plastic than the bottom tank, which feels heavier and denser. Yes...they will replace the cracked tank, but if the warranty is only good for 30 days, I can see having to purchase a new one every few months.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible!,
This review is from: 8 Gallon Countertop Water Filter Purifier - Save $$$ - Transform Tap Water to Pure Healthy Mineral Drinking Water (Kitchen)I spent about 2 weeks researching water filtration systems. I knew I did not want a bulky 'Brita' on my kitchen faucet and I was sure I wanted a system that would remove as many deposits and chemicals as humanly possible. I am in a household with two people and two cats and we go through a lot of water. Hot tea and H2O is all we drink in this house (minus our juicer creations). I did not have a thousand plus dollars to spend and I did not want to sign up for water service. They too use plastic containers and how can I be certain where they are supplied my water?
I was led here by other reviews on various websites and I couldn't be more pleased. Also, thank you for the previous reviewer on amazon and your review. I am thrilled with my system.
This system works more like a natural spring because there is no electricity required. This means NO NOISY filter running in your kitchen or pennies being added to your electric bill everyday. Gravity does the work and the filters do the rest.
PLEASE NOTE: I highly recommend that you follow the initial setup cleaning steps carefully. It may seem a little time consuming, but it is worth an hour to never have to buy another bottle of water again. If you do not want your water to taste funny, be sure you run two cycles through before consumption. I followed the directions and had no problems with taste whatsoever.
In purchasing any product with parts you have to replace (i.e. filters, printer cartridges, etc.), I always look at the price of replacements over the cost of the machine. You may save $100 on a machine, but if the replacement part is expensive, you will be loosing money in the long run. The Zen filters are very reasonable ($15) and would probably need no more than two a year for the most avid user.
I can also use this system to fill my cats' water dishes and wash my vegetables. No point in buying organic products if you are going to wash them in chemicals running from the tap. I can fill a bowl with my Zen water and let them soak.
I couldn't be more pleased and I will recommend this system to anyone who is serious about their water and our planet. Please stop using plastic bottles; save your money and our environment!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!!,
This review is from: 8 Gallon Countertop Water Filter Purifier - Save $$$ - Transform Tap Water to Pure Healthy Mineral Drinking Water (Kitchen)I purchased this purifier in March because: 1) The tap water here is bad (as in "messed up my insides" bad); 2) Not a fan of bottled water; 3) SOOOO tired of Brita, Pur, etc... I was definitely hesitant to purchase this because of the lack of reviews and having never heard of the company before, but I haven't had a single issue with it (set up was not as painful as I thought it would be) and their customer service is freaking outstanding!
I am thrilled with this thing. I don't keep it in the fridge. I actually keep it on a raised counter top next to the sink (easy to fill and easy to access). The main problem I was having with tap water was indigestion and since I started using this, I haven't had any issues like I was having. The water tastes fantastic...it tastes like nothing. There are no "unknowns" floating around in it...it really is a great purifier.
I can't say much about the "Magnetized Water" because I just sort of skipped over that feature since I had no interest in it, but I can say that right now I'm close to a computer monitor and NO problems...if that helps. *wink*
So, yeah, I've tried Brita, I've tried Pur, I hated the expense of using any of their various systems (I tried many) and I drink a LOT of water, so I wanted something big. I have to refill this about every 2 days (I just use an empty coffee container to fill the reservoir - so easy) and I've only had to clean it once since purchasing it (the cleaning process is awesome too...everything is pretty much awesome about this beast).
I would absolutely recommend this to strangers as I've already recommended it to friends.

4.0 out of 5 stars Can't beat the price or quality,
So if you want peace of mind about the best filter that doesn't use electricity (in the chaos we live in today anything that doesn't need electricity is a plus especially a water filter) this is it. Just put the work in and you won't be sorry

5.0 out of 5 stars .3 MICRON Ceramic Filter Gravity System! This is absolutely the Lowest Pore Size for a Filter on the INTERNET!,
USE: With my Zen Water Gravity System
I SEARCHED and RESEARCHED LITERALLY EVERYWHERE ON THE INTERNET FOR THE BEST FILTER AND BESIDES A FEW OTHER CATEGORIES, THE MINIMAL PORE SIZE IS ONE OF THE TOP CONSIDERATION FOR THE BEST FILTRATION!!
.3 Micron ==> That's 3/10 'ths folks not 3 Microns AND is the lowest compared to most of the top filters like PUR,BRITA or most Counter Top brands. Even the Best Systems in the Hundreds of Dollars use 1 Micron (which I have also) size pores.
Basically if you have a Bacteria that sizes at 1 Micron and you have a filter that has pores as big as 5 Microns or 10 Microns, the Bacteria is obviously going to slip into your drinking cup. Well this is the lowest and it's a huge PRO to say the least.
This translates into the percentage reduction factor as well obviously:
Like a 1 Micron filter will block 99% bacteria vs. 5 Micron filter will block 95 to 97%, you get the drift.
Here is the BAD:
When used with the Zen Water Gravity system, because of the very small pore size, this means it's Very Slow going down the filter, but this means that obviously and translate into my being assured that the water quality will be that much better. So I guess you gotta take the good with the bad.
I didn't time it, but for about a gallon of water that passes through this thing, it takes about 1 hour, you heard (read) that right, about an hour.
But for the water quality around here, or more appropriately, the lack of water quality around here, I'll take Clean-Wait-for-1-Hour water over the water that got me sick. Actually I have a distiller that takes 4HOURS! for One Gallon and this one hour is actually a plus, so I guess it's all relative.
I'm not sure how the Korean company comment(that I noticed here) has anything to do with anything unless it's a really bad product, but overall whether US or Korean made, this filter is AWESOME!
(along with the Zen Water system: Way too cheap here so I definitely got the whole system)
Buy an extra one on hand, but these are supposed to last about a year easily by scrubbing off layers of the ceramic media.
It goes without saying, it's definitely worth the purchase.
