Not exactly what I was expecting.,
This review is from: 15 Gallon Ooze Tube Tree Watering
Here's the problem with the Ooze Tubes. When you first fill them up they work perfectly, but after say the second day when some of the water has drained the bags move. They kind of roll over as water is released. At that point the spout is no longer at the bottom and no longer dripping. They are okay, but we end up filling them up a lot more than we anticipated.

I am pleased with this product but the bag does get holes in it very easily. It you have goat heads (small thisle) or sand burs (another small thistle) be careful b/c they puncture the bag with no problem. I have to put something under the bag to protect it. Other than that it works great!

Ooze Tubes Saved Our New Trees,

This product is a great idea! We planted both evergreen and fruit trees on a berm behind our house. Unfortunately, the water catch basins I dug quickly deteriorated due to the steepness of the slope. When we watered, the water would run right past the trees down the slope. During the winter months, the evergreens started turning brown and I thought they would die. I bought an ooze tube for each tree and staked them in on the slope above the trees (not around the trunk like the picture--which works great if you have flat ground). I would only fill them on warm days once every 1-2 weeks in the winter to reduce the chance of freezing. I also added an additional hole when needed so the bag would empty in 1-2 days instead of the 1-2 weeks they were designed for. I used a safety pin because the nail provided should only be used if you will fill the hole with the emitter provided. I am happy to say that because the ooze tubes slowly released the water, the water went down into the ground and the trees recovered in about 3 weeks. By spring, they were all happy campers and put out several inches of new growth. I am keeping the ooze tubes on year round now because there is less water wasted and they work great! I have put some smooth round river rocks inside the bags to keep the wind from blowing them around between fillings. The only negative issues I have are: the emitters sometimes pop out, and the price seems quite high for what seems like an inexpensive product to make. However, having said that, the product did work very well and I am sure our new trees would not have survived without them!

Great Product,
This review is from: 15 Gallon Ooze Tube Tree Watering
I planted two trees and used the Ooze Tube - had no worries and both trees took root quickly. I only had to fill the Ooze Tube every 12 days and I knew when to fill them as they lay flat on the ground when empty.
I went out of town for a long week end and it was very hot...I did not worry about my new trees.

I have used these bags for 6 months and they have done the job. They will get holes if stuck with something sharp (like a deer horn, it happened) but are easily repaired with duct tape. I would recommend these highly.

The product is great. My trees are actually growing new leaves (they were almost bare, except for the few brown ones hanging on). I love them. The company I ordered them from was really quick getting them to me.

I love using this product on my trees. I tried it first on a struggling redwood. It worked well, so I ordered more for my fruit trees. A great way to keep the trees happy during the long hot summer.

Works great, although a little pricey,

I'd have given this a 5-star if not for the price. It does seem a little expensive when you consider the materials involved: a stake, a tube of plastic, and an emitter. I consider it an alternative to installing an expensive drip system.
This works exactly like advertised. I have two newly planted peach trees (Amarillo, TX - currently in a drought), and this works like a charm. It waters for about 2-3 weeks before needing refilled, and does not soak the entire area, but keeps a constant flow in the area that will benefit from it. I haven't had any problems with it rolling or moving, but I like the idea of putting small rocks in it if it were to do so. I like it enough that I am going to try the 9-footer on my tomatoes this year. Update after 3.5 months and the continuing drought... These do work very well... until the emitters become plugged. I took them out to clean with vinegar but when I replaced them into the same hole, the hole was naturally a little larger and the water then dripped from the hole and not the emitter. This makes it so that the tube does not stay filled for the desired amount of time. I tried patching with good ol' duct tape, as the instructions say, but found that did not work so well. I am currently trying to think of something else to patch them with, and then I will reinstall the emitters and try again. I will post an update, but it may be next season before I can truly tell if it works. As for my garden and trees, they have done well with these. I just had to fill the tubes more often than expected.

Bought the Ooze tube to water some young red maples in my yard. They were easy to set up and start using. Effective product. Plan to buy a few more for other trees we're planing.
