Product Description

This innovative homebrew keg with a US Sankey coupler fitting is the best thing to happen to homebrew supplies in a long time! It holds up to five gallons in a durable PET plastic inner liner that's easy to clean, sanitize, assemble, and disassemble for hassle-free refilling. Inner PET lining is cleaned like bottle or carboy. Because it's the same kind of fitting used on the vast majority of domestic commercial kegs, the US Sankey coupler fitting is much more convenient than standard quick disconnect fittings that you find on most homebrew kegs. Nothing hits the spot like a frosty pint of fresh homebrew, but sometimes you don't feel like dealing with a Corny keg. Fix that problem forever with the Sankey sensation that is this PET plastic homebrew keg! *Please Note: This keg is not intended to be used with commercial-grade cleaning or filling equipment.* *Outer shell is made of gray or black plastic. In order to not strip the keg or have problems, you must depressurize the keg prior to opening. Additionally, if you use a Craftsman rubber strap wrench, you can open it easily instead of using channel locks or other metal wrenches. Do not use metal on plastic. A great inexpensive keg that can be reused over and over again. When cleaned and sanitized and used with a little keg lube, the o-ring stays in place and this keg works like a champ.

I was able to get my keg opened with a pair of channel locks, however once I got my beer in it, the container would still leak CO2. Luckily I live near KegWorks and they were super helpful with getting me set up with a cornelius keg and the quick connects to make it work with my system. Vendor recommended, not the product.

I note that there is a lot of ambivalence about these kegs. I have used three of these for the last year or so with no problems. I think the issue is that people aren't using them correctly. First of all, you want to use a strap wrench to get the dip tube and Sankey apparatus out. Makes your life much easier. Second, apply some good grade jelly to the lubricating jelly between the Sankey apparatus and the o-ring. Third, I will admit, the O-ring that comes with these is crap. So I bought my own at Lowes for about $0.50 and it works great, every time. I have never had a single leak from any of my kegs.

I just ordered 4 more and called Kegworks to discuss this product before doing so (they are out of stock as of this writing). They reinforced what Amazon's reviews suggest - people either love them or hate them, but their feeling is that most of the people who don't like them are not using them properly.

The beauty of these vessels is that they allow you to swap effortlessly between your beer and commercial kegs. They are also super easy to clean and you can recycle them. The soda keg "solution" is a band-aid, this product (and I expect there are similar ones forthcoming) is here to stay.

I bought 1 in december of 2013. Have put 3 batches of homebrew into it. The seal between tap and keg can be fussy but I never had any problems getting good seal or pressure. Looking at getting another because it works great for my purposes.

As previously stated by other reviewers, this product is terrible. The Keg is impossible to seal and I loss all my CO2 in an attempt to identify and seal the leaks. The major area where it leaks is around the coupling of the KEG and the Sankey coupler. The KEG just would not seal and I think I tried some innobative ways attempting to seal the KEG and make the product useable. THis is clearly a flawed product that was not properly tested before pushing out for sale. If I were AMAZON or Kegworks I would take action to remove this product. Homebrewing is tough enough without faulty equipment..
