5.0 out of 5 stars Don't believe something just because it's on the net..
I own both original and remaster of Gallows Gallery, and IMO the remaster is the BETTER buy. The sound quality is better, there's a few re-mixes that are cool to hear, and the jazzy out-takes are cool, too. (so what if they're short) I know a lot of ppl are all about how raw a recording should be, well, if "raw" means that it sounds like a garage band-quality demo, (think...

1.0 out of 5 stars don't find the original, either. it's bad no matter how it's produced.
sigh's nadir. it's more or less fruity power metal with world music/film noir soundtrack elements and unbearable chipmunk vocals, like an anime version of iron maiden on helium. hideous, diseased sounds.

(so what if they're short) I know a lot of ppl are all about how raw a recording should be, well, if "raw" means that it sounds like a garage band-quality demo, (think Darkthrone- Goatlord) then I'll pass. I could understand if it was the first release of Scorn Defeat (DSP), that's rare, (different from raw) but the original release of Gallows was just not well done. There seems to be a pattern here- raw, rare, well done .. hmm. I guess I like rare and well done, but not raw! And if that makes me a false black metal fan or a poseur .. oh no! How will I ever sleep again???

Poseur is a pejorative term, often used in the punk, heavy metal, hip hop and goth subcultures to describe a person who adopts the dress, speech, and/or mannerisms of a group or subculture, generally for attaining acceptability within the group or for popularity among various other groups, yet who is deemed to not share or understand the values or philosophy of the subculture.

This remaster is a perfect example of an absolutely abominable ongoing trend in album production today. Every aspect of the sound quality of the album is destroyed in the name of pushing the dB levels to the limit in the name of loudness. The original release of this album has MONSTER bass. It sounds incredible. It's all gone on this abysmal remaster.

The bonus tracks are simply not worth it alone. The harsh vocal version of Pale Monument doesn't hold a candle to the proper version, and the Jazzy Outtakes only run around 40 seconds each if memory serves me.

Find the original.
