5.0 out of 5 stars Didn't think the kids would like it, but EVERY kid loves it!
This was a gift from somebody to our (then) 2-year old son. I didn't think he would like it. I thought it would be just another toy that was taking up space. But he immediately loved it. He still plays with it two years later, and now his two-year old sister plays with it, too. And every child who visits our house gravitates to this toy. There is just something...

1.0 out of 5 stars This would be fun and educational but Galt messed up
My children used an older version of this type of marble game and went bonkers over it. The toy we used was a friends. My wife bought Galt's version and I am ready to toss it into the garbage can. I just hope the retailer will accept a return. The problem is that Galt's materials engineers cut back on the connector strength and the pieces do not stick together well. All...

All it takes to knock this toy down is a minor bump. My kids were totally frustrated and so was I. This was not an issue with the toy my friend had.

Galt, you saved a few pennies on plastic on each set you built but you created a useless toy. Two thumbs down!!!!!!

There is just something fascinating for kids about configuring the chutes and watching marbles roll down. Highly recommended.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pinching Pennies Cost Customer, July 26, 2005

This toy thoroughly dissapointed me from the moment I handed it to my child. I remember playing with it's quality predecessor as a child. These memories were dashed by the shoddy workmanship evident by the makers of this "product". The connectors were too short and were seperated by the slightest bump. There were not enough tube connectors to build a tower of any great height. Even the marbles were of different sizes and shapes which prevented a proper roll even if the tower managed to hold together. This toy is a total waste of money and I will be returning it shortly. The company should spend a few more cents and make a quality product.

This is one of the most creative toys my son has ever enjoyed playing with. The marble run keeps him and his friends busy for hours, this same company also manufactures a Super Marble Run , which is simply a much larger set. My ADVICE - BUY IT , and you will also enjoy seeing your child have hours of creative building & play.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Galt Toys Galt Toys Marble Run (Toy)
I bought this marble run for classroom use, but I enjoy using it myself. I'm working on my teacher's certification and bought this as an activity for a unit I designed on the six simple machines. I think it's a wonderful hands-on way for students to learn about inclines and such. Truth be told, I'm infatuated with it. The colors are very eye-catching and it's great fun to work with. I can't wait to use it in the classroom. Another reviewer suggested buying two sets, which is a good idea. If you know a child who likes building toys (blocks, Legos, etc.), get them this marble run. I loved that stuff as a child (still do) and I truly enjoy this marble run.

We have an older version of this toy. There are at least 4 different "specialty" ramps : water wheel, squiggly ramp, ==O== ramp, whirlpool drop, and perhaps 50 ramps, 20 vertical connectors, and 10 circular / base pieces. From the pictures I see on the Amazon site, this version is a heavily castrated set with less than half the fun of our set (which is circa 1995.) The version we have is called "Super Marble Run" and I wish that Amazon would carry this enhanced version - it's well worth the extra $$$.

I really like this toy, but would highly suggest getting maybe 2 sets. There are only 30 pieces, and the set it pretty small. Otherwise great toy.

Not a very sturdy product, and doesn't stand up very well on carpet. We try and play this game often, but my son (4) often gets frustrated with its lack of stability and gives up. Better options out there to teach creativity.

But will you kids love it? That is the question. It may teach your kids about gravitational forces, or actiona and reaction, all you like but will your kids like it? Yes. The downside is that they will only enjoy it after you set up the toy. Some parents want a toy they pull out of the box and never have to touch. You have to assemble this one everytime. It's not as easy for kids to assemble as you would hope. Good luck with this one.

I'm not certain that the product I own is the exact one advertised because my parents bought me the toy when I was four or five and that was well before the 90's. Anyhow, the set I had was quite similar, or at least the same concept. I have to admit, no toy thrilled me quite the way my marble run did. I spent hours building unique structures for rolling my marbles down. I'm not exactly sure what the appeal was, but it was very neat to build something yourself, drop the marble in at the top and then watch and listen to it roll all the way down. I guess it's appealing in the same way that those wacky gumball machines at malls are. Anyhow, it was a great toy, entertained me for hours, and seems to be timeless. Significantly more educational than watching television or playing video games and far more satisfying.
