A friend put me onto Gamakatsu hooks a while ago. Prior to that I had been using Mustad hooks and other brands. The Gamakatsu hooks are certainly more expensive but the difference is that they are SHARP! Many hooks claim to be chemically sharpened, but with just a touch on the hook tip you can tell that they aren't really all that sharp... The Gamakatsu hooks are certainly sharper and I believe they result in more successful fish hookups than many other hooks. The hooks themselves are quite strong, but not unbreakable, but certainly as strong as most any other comparatively sized hook on the market. I will certainly continue to use them until I find a better hook for fishing.
