1.0 out of 5 stars Not a good read!
The story didn't flow. You really couldn't feel sorry for Denise and her gambling problem. She really was not a likeable heroine.... Don't waste your time reading this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Lot To Gamble, Even More To Gain, October 14, 2008
This review is from: Gamble On Love (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)

In her Ladies of Distinction series, Michelle Monkou weaves a story of secrets, addictions, trust, and romance in Gamble On Love. Denise Dixon was used to having things done her way. When she met Jaden Bond, the sexy contractor who was hired by her parents to renovate her new house, Denise knew she had to go out with him. Denise and Jaden were attracted to each other. Denise was funny, sassy and she had a way of making Jaden feel comfortable. In order for their relationship to grow, both of them had to come to terms with family secrets, and personal demons that were keeping them apart.

Gamble On Love was a good story to read. The characters created by Monkou were likeable and very realistic. As the reader, I could feel the emotions of both Denise and Jaden as they struggled to rid themselves of the issues that held them apart. This was the first story that I have read by Michelle Monkou. I look forward to reading other books in the series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a Great Gamble, October 5, 2008

I was disappointed by this book. The author did not take the time to develop the story line. There was so many details left unspoken and he book felt rushed. The love scenes are great and the banter for what it was was good. It's a shame, this had the makings of a good book. I hope the other book in this series are better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Gamble on Love, October 26, 2009
This review is from: Gamble On Love (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
A woman on the go as a city engineer, Denise Dixon has the ideal life on the outside. Well off family, parents who spoil her with gifts and even a home. What people don't see is the fragile bond that keeps her family together or the addiction she continues to struggle with. Jaden Bond runs a multimillion-dollar business and was hired by Denise's parents to renovate her new home. Denise is the kind of woman Jaden would normally steer clear of but he finds her infectious personality hard to resist. With family secrets of his own, Jaden brings with him his own set of problems and he and Denise have a long way to go before they can finally come together with love.

I'm not sure if the addiction issue made this story a tad bit difficult for me or if it was the feeling that Gamble on Love left me with more questions than answers. This story touched on two types of addictions, alcoholism and gambling but also showcased two well off families so heavily dysfunctional watching them interact was rather painful at times. The heroine was a gambler who didn't seem to be able to deal with her issues in an honest way. Be if from a lack of empathy but no matter how far I went into the story I couldn't connect with Denise. She seemed spoiled, selfish and rather cold at times unless she was being intimate with Jaden. Though I was able to feel some sympathy for Jaden and his family issues his personality left a little to be desired.

Personally for me I think because of the book length Michelle Monkou had too much going on and was unable to really set a tone where I saw why Jaden and Denise, outside of the bedroom really loved each other. Why would a successful man as organized and precise as Jaden Bond accept a spoiled woman with a gambling issue into his life when he already had a heavy family burden to bear? Where did the gambling issue with Denise stem from? Overall Gamble on Love was readable with some room for improvement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gamble on Love, October 13, 2008

September 15, 2008: I read this book in a day and just let say that not much work got done that day. We met Denise in 'No One But You' Michelle gave us a peak at Denise but in Gamble on Love we get to really know Denise what make her tick, and do the thing she do. We also get to see the real Denise personality and let me tell you she is something. Denise is a lady with attitude and she does know it. Denise is so use to being the center of attention and getting whatever she want but boy oh boy when she meet Jaden Bond 'when I read his name the first thing that came to mind is the famous word of James Bond. Ya'll know Bond James Bond. Smile' just thinks of Jaden that way. He is Sexy and a SELF MADE MILLIONAIRE. Without giving to much a way they both come with shameful secret that they each work out.
