Some customers are reporting an issue receiving an "invalid activation code" error when activating the game via the install screen.
If you experience this, please use the "Redeem Product Code" feature from within the EA Origin client to activate the game. The files will be verified again to ensure updates and patches are applied as needed.

Trying this now...
At this time, the best option will be to uninstall the game, if it has
already partially installed, delete any files that were downloaded from
Amazon, and then use the product key that you've received to start a new
download from Origin.
If you already have an EA account, you can use the same log-in information.
1. Download the Origin client at: http://www.origin.com/us/about 2. If you don't have an Origin account, click "Create an Account." If you
previously had an EA account, you can use the same log-in information. 3. Click the gear icon in the upper right corner and select "Redeem Product

There was an issue with the keys that were distributed to customers who had recently purchased Dead Space 2. Affected customers have had the bad key removed from their Games & Software Library, and it has been replaced by a new valid key.
There is no need to re-download the game. Launch the game again from initial install, and when prompted to enter the serial number, enter the new key that was distributed. You are not required to have an Origin account for this game.
I'm pretty sure you cannot activate this copy on Steam. It's not in Steam's list of supported third party games bought outside of Steam, plus Steam wouldn't accept my activation code (though, that was before I downloaded the fixed code, as announced by the Amazon Official above).
So, it looks like if you want to play it through Steam you'll have to buy it through Steam.
This is happening for my game too. The Sims Medieval which I bought when it came out through Amazon. Now that I have another computer, I want to add it on there. Originally it had taken 2 hours to download to my computer - now with a NEW computer, it says the download will take not only 13 hours, but that's just for the software. So I went to origin hoping to download it there like I did with my Sims games I had purchased on Amazon as well. It says that the code is wrong because it starts with a number and not a letter.... It's driving me crazy and I don't want to go and buy it again through Origin for another $30. But 13 hours is a long time just to download a game. It seems like every 30 minutes that time goes up by another hour or two... at this rate.. I will never get it to download from Amazon.
// Fast Internet speed. New computer. Still having problems with Amazon.
Even if it works there, it should also work on Steam because it is NOT specified in the product description that it is redeemable ONLY on Origin. I will not download Origin just to redeem a game that I wanted in my Steam Collection. I filed for a refund.
