4.0 out of 5 stars GBA Link Cable: Gets the Job Done Most of the Time
The Game Boy link cable is a must for anyone that wants to play multi-player games on game boy advance. This cable is made by Nintendo, who has a reputation of genarally making high-quality products.

This cable is a fairly good length, and allows you to hook up another cable to it through a box in the middle of the cable for 3-player games (and you can hook another...

2.0 out of 5 stars Too short
The cable does work as intended, but it's too short, unless you're sitting head-to-head or side-by-side, I hope 3rd parties make a longer one...

The Game Boy link cable is a must for anyone that wants to play multi-player games on game boy advance. This cable is made by Nintendo, who has a reputation of genarally making high-quality products.

This cable is a fairly good length, and allows you to hook up another cable to it through a box in the middle of the cable for 3-player games (and you can hook another cable up to the second one for a total of 4-players).

The only disadvantage is that this cable will only connect two Game Boy Advances. That means if you want to connect a Game Boy/Game Boy Pocket/Game Boy Color to another one or to a Game Boy Advance, you will need a Nintendo Universal Link Cable, which is only a few dollars more.

In summary, if just want to connect your GBA with another one (or 2 or 3), then this is perfect for you. If you want to use an older Game Boy, get a universal cable.

No, not from Zelda, the new link cable from Nintendo designed especially for the GameBoy Advance is something you want if you like the head-to-head-to-head-to-head action. WOW! Four people can be linked up on special games for a multiplayer challenge. On some games, this even opens new events that otherwise can't be gotten in normal gameplay. You don't even need the same game-console ratio, because just one game pak provides enough fun for four people. Definitely worth the price. To link 2 consoles, you need 1 cable, with 3, you need 2 cables, and with 4, you need 3 cables.

First the bad news:

If you are buying a cable, and you want to use some of the old Gameboy games (like Pokemon), you must get the old-style cable. This cable will not work properly on some of the old games.

The cable is directional. There's a small end and a fat end; apparently it matters who has the small end plugged in. It's not really that big of a deal (it's second nature once you get used to it), but if you don't read that little detail you might think your cable is broken.

The rest is good: Multiplay on the GBA is great. With a link cable, there are many games that only require a single cartridge for everyone connected to play.

The cable is pretty sturdy, and seems a little longer than the old gameboy cable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better than GBC, June 21, 2002
By
This review is from: Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable (Video Game)
This game link cable, in my opinion, is MUCH better than Game Boy Color's game link cable. There are many more games which you can play multiplayer games, and many of the games only require one game pack, making it much better. And the games still have great graphics. This is a must have for any Game Boy Advance owner!
Pros:
1) Small, high quality
2) Can connect up to 4 GBAs
Cons:
1) Only works with Game Boy Advance (for you GBC users)

if you want to play with 4 people, 2 other people will have to have their own cables

On the otherhand, you can buy a 3rd party cable that has 4 plugs all in 1 unit for about the same price and only 1 person will need it to play 4x multiplayer

5.0 out of 5 stars Two Thumbs Up, November 19, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable (Video Game)
The first time I used this cable to play with my cousin, I had a blast! With a computer game, there is only one screen, so you have to sit close to your opponent when you're racing. But with this, you have your own console and your own screen and your own controls, and you can still see the other person's character in the game. The cords are nice and long, so you don't have to be right next to your opponent while racing. The only problem was that it can only connect two consols. But there is a big purple box in the middle of the cord, so if the third person has his own cable, she can just stick her cord in the box, and presto, you have three players! If you buy this, you'll have a blast. I highly recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A must have, July 3, 2001

If you ever plan on playing anything multiplayer on your gba, you must consider buying this item. Although you need 1 for a 2 plr.game, 2 for a 3 player and 3 for a 4 player game, it is still must have. The multiplayer feature of the game boy advance is one of Nintendos biggest prides. It is greatly improved from the GBC days, as you can now play 4 player. As some other guy said, tahe third party cables may be better, but just get one.

5.0 out of 5 stars One warning for you GBA owners, April 5, 2004
This review is from: Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable (Video Game)
Nintendo advertises this cable to allow 4 people to play together off of one pack. Absolutely not a 100% true. Certain games such as NHL 2002, and other sports games, each player must have a pack to be able to connect. Many parents have found this out all too late on road trips and what not. Make sure you read the warning on the back of the game and instructions to see what you need for multiplayer gaming. (...)

5.0 out of 5 stars GB Link, January 3, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable (Video Game)
I recently received the GBA link cable for Christmas. It was fun batteling it out in the Mario's World classic game. The cable is a pretty good length, about 3ft long, which is good for playing in a car or on a couch; and the cord is color coded which makes to easy to hook up. I would recommend this product to anyone who likes playing GameBoy Advance.

I mostly used this to connect and play Mario Kart with my friends, but i was supprised that for that game i only needed 1 game. The cord connects the two gameboys together. It changes the way you play the game. It works with alot of games too.
