5.0 out of 5 stars Game Boy Advance SP Earphone Adapter
I think it was rather unusual to have to buy a separate attachment for earphones but it does what it's supposed to do.
The sound was as good as when I plugged my earphones directly into the old Game Boy Advance.

1.0 out of 5 stars Completely unusable!
I bought this for my new SP. The sound quality is absolutely horrific. On "Zelda: Link to the Past" all music becomes almost pure white noise. Oddly enough, you can still hear some sound effects OK but any other sounds are very faint or are just annoying loud buzzing sounds. It is unusable and I am returning it. The Nintendo official adapter is available on...

The Nintendo official adapter is available on their site for half the price of this one. I'm going to order it instead.

2.0 out of 5 stars Works but why we have to use this?, April 23, 2003
This review is from: Game Boy Advance SP Earphone Adapter: Cobalt (Video Game)
This adapter allows you to use earphones on the Gameboy Advance SP system. It works, but it's unethical of Nintendo to force us to fork out more money and it adds bulk to the SP.

5.0 out of 5 stars Required Accesory for Ultimate GBA Setup, February 17, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Game Boy Advance SP Earphone Adapter: Cobalt (Video Game)
Even though it is crazy that Nintendo failed to include a headphone jack with the gba sp, this product takes care of that problem easily.

I would suggest that anyone buy a GBA SP with the backlit screen for the best, yet affordable, portable gaming setup. Additionally, this product is required to make the setup complete.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works fine - Annoying to require special earphones, May 22, 2004

I bought the earphone adapter so that my son can play our Game Boy on a flight without annoying everyone or having to battle with him to keep the volume down. I tried it out with Mario World and it works fine and sounds as good as synthesized, cheesy, videogame music could sound. I agree that it is annoying to have to spend the extra money for special earphones, though all the game consoles try to nickel and dime you. Same deal with the Game Cube: Oh, you wanted *two* controllers with that? Oh, you wanted to be able to save your game?

Sound is better quality than speaker in actual console. Make sure you use good earphones.

at the top i put an average rating because i havent personaly heard the sound quality this product produces. to the people wondering why you have to buy a separate attatchment a friend of mine told me about an article he read that said that when nintendo was consentrating on making the GBA sp they got realy rapped up in it and forgot to put a headphone jack in, so they made the attactment so that they didnt have to make a new design with the wiring the article supposedly also said that they feel realy stupid for not putting one in. (again i am not completely positive the information is true but it seems like a logical explaination to me.
