If you are a Buffalo Bills fan like I am then this book is for you. My wife bought this for me for Christmas this year and it was a pleasure to read. If you are a long time bills fan then you will enjoy the trip down memory lane and get some interesting insight to what was behind the great plays and some interesting details of some of the players.

This is a great book for any Bills fan to read, especially if you have been a fan for many years like I have. It would make a great Christmas gift. You can get it at Amazon for half price, at least I did.

A review of "Game Changers" featured some comments by former Buffalo Bills' head coach Marv Levy that seemed to indicate he didn't know a great deal about the finished product. That's rather odd, since it is his name on the cover as the author.

After reading the book, though, it seems logical that the initial guess was correct. Marv Levy didn't have a whole lot to do with it. That's no crime, naturally, since authors use ghostwriters all the time. But he and Jeff Miller teamed up here for one unusual publication.

The idea is a basic one. The greatest plays in Bills' football history are picked up. Each play and its accompanying game receives a four-game spread in the book. There are plenty of photos along the way, as well as some relevant sidebar biographies of players, coaches, etc. It doesn't take long to get up to 154 pages that way.

Now here's the catch: the games that took place under Levy's watch are written in Levy's "voice." The others are written from the point of view of a neutral observer. Since the games are categorized by such subjects as offensive wonders, defensive standouts and memorable moments without regard to chronology, the reader needs a minute to figure out just who is doing the writing at a given moment. This is, at best, odd.

Meanwhile, the style of the story doesn't change much no matter who is doing the writing. They all run about 10 paragraphs or so and cover the basic turning points of the game, with the "great play" given a little extra emphasis. The difference is that Levy's stories might have an anecdote from the coach about the game, while the others have quotes supplied by other sources.
